KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: The Tixon
Well, it's over - the last time I'll probably ever see KISS live - over 23 years have passed since I saw them at my first live rock concert, at the tender age of 13, at the Nassau Coliseum in February of 1977 (FYI, the opening act then was - Sammy Hagar!)... well, enough reminiscing - on to the show:

Skid Row - missed their act - on purpose.

Ted Nugent - Did all the 'big' tunes, except for Wango Tango. Anyways, he brought out ex-lead singer and Atlanta resident Derek St. Holmes to sing and jam on 'Stranglehold' - very cool. Other than that, basic Nugent; I'm sure everyone knows the whole bit with shooting the arrow into the guitar, offending Democrats, etc. by now, so onto...

KISS - Opened with DRC while descsnding from the lights.. cool. Although I expected the intro video that I'd read about in other reviews - looks like it's been canned. Too bad... Great show, same set list as they've been doing the past few weeks, but I thought the pacing of the tunes was a little odd, and it seemed to drag a bit in spots. Some of the older stuff, which I love, like 'Let Me Go, Rock and Roll', didn't seem to get the crowd going like it appeared top during the Reunion shows.

Ace fucked up the first verse in 'Shock Me' by beginning to sing the second verse, and Paul ran over to Ace's mike and tried singing the words to help Ace out, but I think Ace was giggling too much to complete the verse; Ace appeared to have a great time and was really into the gig, it seemed. I will say that the music - solos, harmonies, etc - we're as good as I'd ever seen them, although Ace has clearly run out of any original and interesting ideas for his guitar solo! That's it for this one...
