KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Rich
It had been 22 years since I had seen KISS, so I could not wait for them to get to Austin and went to their San Antonio show in March. The show was great of course, but the Alamo Dome is so large and we had bad seats, so it took a bit away from the experience. In Austin though, they played the Frank Erwin center which is only about 8K for seating. My seats were great and so was the show. Skid Row was okay at best, the singer's voice was really bad. Ted was his usual self. He pissed off half the crowd and they started throwing stuff at him. He is a jerk. Then KISS took the stage. They were all on that night and the crowd went wild. It was only 8000 people, but it sounded like much more. They kept showing some girls big tits on the screen and Paul joked, "I guess things are big in Texas". The crowd was a bit older and "mainstream" than at San Antonio. Paul sounded great, Ace was cracking jokes during his mike time, Gene was doing his thing, and Peter was having a great time. It was the same show, but in the small venue it played so much better. They sounded great and there was not a bad seat in the whole house. I had a seat just in front of Paul's "middle of the crowd" Stage for Love Gun and he was rockin. Towards the middle of the show, the crowd lost some steam and was not intense like the beginning. Of course I stood the whole time and the usher had to ask me to sit (yeah right). The crowd started rockin again during Love Gun and right through to the end of the concert. My ears rang for two days, but it was well worth it. They need to go on tour again, this is too soon to call it a day.
