KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Randy
Awesome show . This was the fourth time I've seen KISS and the fifth for my cousin . We both thought it was the best yet . Music and lyrics were strong . Who says KISS is too old ? That's Bull----! I met several people at the show who were KISSED for the first time that night . They were in awe . I heard several people say that they were upset at just now becoming fans as the band was retiring . The majority of the crowd was in their late 30's (like us) but there were many who obviously had never seen the 70's . Anyway , on to the show ...

Skid row ( w/o Sebastian Bach ) or Skid F---ing Row (as the new front man kept calling them ) : lot's of noise ... enough said .

Nugent was better . Not bad for a three piece band and the drummer was fantastic . I love Peter but this guy kicked butt ( fun to hear AND WATCH the stick work ). About the Motor City Madman's politics ? It's about time someone told it the way it is !!! Way to go Ted !

On to KISS . We drove 9 hours roundtrip to see the show and were not disappointed . The boys played a little over 2 hours . We were worried about all of the technical problems in Anaheim but all systems were much improved on this night . There was a slight hesitation from the platform as it lowered the guys to start the show and Gene's flying was a little off (see below) . Our seats were on the floor right near the small stage Paul used for Love Gun and we couldn't see any problems with his flying . By the way , our seats didn't matter cause everyone was standing the whole time . The Starchild made a hilarious reference to Cinderella after someone tossed him a bra early on . He said he was going to have to see who the bra fit after the show (like the glass slipper) . After that he kept getting more thrown his way . At one point he had 5-6 hanging from his guitar neck and ended up with 10 or so total. There was a noticeable improvement in Paul's voice from the reunion tour! . His practice and work for "Phantom" has really improved his range .

The Demon was great . The tongue hockey and lip lock with the girl in the front row had us rollin' . Blood and fire : perfect as usual . He did have a little trouble near the top of his ascent for God of Thunder and had to wave his hand to signal the roadies to adjust his position a little . I don't know if he was sick , or just hot , because he was sweating profusely a good portion of the show .

Ace was , well , Ace . The best . I was really impressd by the way he played the 80's tunes . It looked like he was into them just like the others . The riffs during his solo were great because we got a taste of songs we were not going to hear ( Parasite , Etc.) It was hard to pick up the beginning of some of his riffs during the regular songs , though . It was almost like his volume needed to be adjusted a little bit . He was more audible a few chords into his riffs than when he started them . He also cracked us up when he asked if there were any bakers in the audience .

Great interaction between the guys . Ace shook his head no to Gene early in the concert when Gene was going to lick his neck and Paul responded minutes later by coming up behind Ace and sticking the neck of his guitar between Ace's legs and playing a few chords .

Peter was solid and seemed to be having fun . I never have been a big fan of drum solo's so it was okay with me that Peter didn't do one . It was better to hear more songs (20) anyway .

Biggest disappointment(s) : 2000 Man instead of Into the void . I think ITV is the best song on PC .

Encores were Beth and RARAN . Got a little choked up as they played RARAN with all the confetti coming down . It really hit hard that I'd never see them in concert again .
