KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Steve
This was my 7th KISS concert and no doubt the worst that I have seen.It was still enjoyable, but it definetely didn't meet KISS standards. The problems started right away. When the Who song "won't get fooled again"got loud as it has in all of the other concerts on this tour, everyone anticipated those famous words (you know!),but nothing happened. They played a few more tunes at a low volume and then they finally got the show going after about 5 or 6 minutes. After the usual "You wanted the best etc." The band went into "Detroit Rock City".The only problem was the curtain got stuck as they were descending on the platform, and by the time it finally moved, they were almost to the stage already. From this point on I could tell that ACE definetly wasn't all there!!He stumbled of of the platform, almost falling down. Then, before many of the songs through out the night he wasn't even on stage when the songs would start. Many times during songs he would walk over to one of the stage crew and mess with his guitar, mess with his outfit etc. etc.It was obvious many times that Gene and Paul weren't very happy! You know a song just doesn't sound right if there is no one playing the lead guitar at the begining of the song!Next, when it was time for ACE to sing "Shock Me",he totally forgot to sing the first 3 verses.Gene and Paul were just staring at him as if to say "OK you can start singing anytime now".When he finally started singing in the middle of the song,he sounded absolutely horrible! I never thought much of Aces singing, but this was pathetic! When he would say "Shock Me" during the song,he sounded kind of like Bob Dylan. It's really hard to explain how he sounded. You'd have to experience it!To put it plain and simple,Ace was either drunk, stoned or he's lost some brain cells through the years.I know it sounds like I hated the show, but I didn't.It just didn't compare to either of the 2 Reunion shows that I saw at New Orleans or Pensacola or the Farewell show that I saw in April in Pensacola.Ace was much better at those shows. It seemed to me that Ace's antics kinda pissed Paul and Gene off and therefore took a little away from the show.Lets face it,original member or not,Ace can't hold a candle to Bruce Kulicks ass!!!!!From what I saw,I wonder if KISS will make it through the rest of this tour if Ace doesn't straighten up!Overall I'll give it a 7,but as far as comparing it to other KISS shows,I'll give it a 4.If you get a chance to see them go!!!!!!! Just hope that Ace isn't in Space literally!!!!!!! As far as Skid Row and Ted Nugent,Skid Row was descent, and Ted rocked the house as usual.Ace needs to take some guitar lessons from "Uncle Ted"!!!
