KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Kyle Slagle
I got to the BJCC at 7:45 and Skid Row was already done. So I missed them. Ted Nugent was good and very crazy (as always). Now the reason I went.....KISS. I have seen them every time they have come to B'ham except the 1st(1974) and the first non-make up show (was in college couldn't make it). All I can say is WOW and LOUD. But as Gene puts it I LOVE IT LOUD!!!! They sounded great. B'ham was fortunate to have a date after an off day so they were well rested. Paul's vocals were great and he sounded better than he has in years (Phantom training I'm sure). Ace sounded great also. His vocals I believe have improved the most over the years. And his guitar playing was top-notch. Peter's version of BETH was the best I have ever heard from him. In the past(even at the reunion concert) he sounded hoarse and tired, but that night he was great. I wish they would have played one more Peter song, even if it was Nothin' To Lose even though that really isn't one of his songs. I would have love to seen Dirty Livin' or Strange Ways (although I knew that wasn't going to happen). I guess I'm biased because Peter is my favorite. And Gene.....well he was Gene. True to form. There is no presence on stage that can match him. His vocals are very forceful and will never be matched. I wish they would have put a tribute picture of Eric Carr on the screen. That would have been a nice gesture. I would like to say to KISS.........Thanks for all the memories and helping me get along in life. I will miss them very much. So long and Good Luck in the future.
