My friend Mike and I live in Cincinnati and we were on our way to Talladega for a weekend of races. With a short detour through Caesar's casino in Louisville where I donated 80 dollars, we headed down Interstate 65 towards Birmingham. Now I knew KISS was playing in Birmingham Friday night, but I already had a fortune invested in Louisville and Cincinnati tickets and this was a race weekend so I didn't think I'd be going. We arrived in Birmingham close to 7:00 and when we got to the exit of our hotel it was just down the street from BJCC Arena. I had to drive down to see all the people going in. Then we passed the scalpers and I just had to check out what they had. One guy had two front row seats for 100 dollars each but he wouldn't sell a single ticket and I knew Mike would never be seen at a Kiss concert but I ended up with a 10th row center for 80 dollars. It was right in front of the drums and everyone in front of me were five feet tall! I could see perfectly! This was my 25th KISS concert and I didn't think it was possible to be blown away by them anymore but this was an absolutely perfect concert! Not one thing went wrong. Both flying rigs worked perfectly. All the pyro went off when it was supposed to. The sound was perfect. Not one missed note. Not one run in their makeup. Ace's guitar solo was classic Ace. It was just a beautiful show. There is no other band out there that puts on a show like that and that's why we all love them. I hope the Cincinnati and Louisville shows are just like this one because my 10 year old son will be with me in the third row and he will just be blown away. I don't think he understands what he's in for. But I know he'll never forget it. Neither will I. Thank you KISS for a lifetime of memories!!!!
