KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Kissmick
I will begin by saying that this was the 6th time that I have seen Kiss over my 27 years...

I first saw Kiss in 1990 on the Hot in the Shade Tour in Huntsville, Alabama. Slaughter and Winger opened the show and it turned out to be one of the best shows I have ever seen. Later I saw Kiss on the Revenge tour. I saw them play on a barge in downtown Nashville, Tennessee in 1994. I then saw the Reunion Tour and the Lost Cities Tour.

Well, this time I decided to take some friends and family that have never seen Kiss so they could experience a real "Rock and Roll Show". I took my 17 year old Sister-in-Law who had never even been to a Rock concert and I took a friend that has been to many shows, but never a Kiss show. To say the least, we had a great time.

Now to the show...

The Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center was packed! The atmosphere was much like a college football game. Alot of drinking and cheering...everyone seemed to get along...very well behaved crowd.

Skid Row was probably pretty good, but we couldn't hear them? Sound was awful! Not sure why, but it was the worst I have ever heard at an indoor concert.

Ted was pretty good, but I couldn't hear the vocals? Sound was just terrible. His band was very good and he brought one of the guys from Brother Cane out to help on Cat Scratch Fever. I enjoyed Ted even though I'm not his biggest fan. He didn't say alot which was fine with me.

Kiss was great. What else can be said. Again, the sound was the worst I have ever heard for a Kiss show. It was a little better than Skid Row and Ted, but not much. Paul is the greatest front man ever! Hands down! Ace was very good...Moved around as much as I have ever seen him move. Gene was great during God of Thunder...I never get tired of seeing him sing that song. Peter was good as well. He doesn't play like a 25 year old, but hell he's in his 50's. I thought he did a great job.

So there you have it. The only negative of the night was the sound. I am going to see this tour again in Nashville on the 28th. I hope the sound is better there.

By the way...Kiss has the best shirts they have had in a long time for this tour. I never buy tour shirt, but I couldn't pass on the Kiss Security shirt.

Thanks Kiss...Thank each and every incarnation of Kiss...I have really enjoyed the past 27 years...I will see you guys in Nashville for the final farewell!
