KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: CNH
Like most of the reviewers on this website, I've been a fan of KISS for almost their entire career. Missed two chances to see the original four (once in 1979 and once in 1997) and was quite excited to hear that they had planned a stop on their farewell tour in Boise which wold allow me to finally see them.

Electricity and anticipation built through the first two sets which were both a lot of fun. The place was almost entirely full even before Ted Nugent came out. Nugent was crazed and was received very well at our show. All I could think about though was that, as each song finished from the opening bands, I was getting one song closer to finally seeing KISS. This was the only reason I was really there. The half-hour wait between Nugent and KISS seemed like an eternity. At 9:15 the lights went down and it began.

The opening moments of the KISS show were magical. There aren’t really words for seeing them that first instant, especially after waiting what turned out to be 21 years to see them. It was overwhelming. The roar of the crowd, the searching spotlights in the black arena, the adrenaline, the “ You wanted the best…” and then, they suddenly appear… descending to the stage like mythical figures behind the falling curtains as the blistering riff to Detroit Rock City filled the arena.

People were on their feet the entire show. I've been to probably 50 concerts and I don't think I've ever seen this many people that excited. People were screaming and singing along the entire show! It’s a pretty small arena and I’m both surprised and thankful that KISS stopped by our city to see us in such a small venue. The place was packed but it can only hold so many fans. I heard that KISS played to 25,000 at the Gorge Amphitheater just a few nights earlier in Washington. It’s good to know that they’re making an effort to remember everyone on their farewell tour, even if we are in a smaller market.

The show itself was unbeatable! No mistakes. Everything went perfectly. Everyone sounded great. I’ve read a lot of criticism in other reviews but there wasn’t much to criticize from my standpoint. The band seemed to be having a good time. I had a good time… so did everyone else. Every element you’d expect from a KISS concert is there. The only bad experience I had was trying to buy a T-shirt. It was free-for-all. People were cutting in line and shoving and yelling. You had to wave money around to get the merchandise clerks to even look at you.

The show itself was intense. I’m amazed at the level of technical detail and the extreme efforts they each put into their performances. Far beyond your average concert performance. If you're debating whether or not to see this show... GO!
