KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Tom D.
Well folks, this is the first review of several shows coming up, so sit tight. The evening started with Skid Row. They just shouldn't have come along. While the band is tight, the lead singer is really pathetic. Sebastian Bach must come back.... now. Nugent was excellent and is probably right that he and the Rhythm Kings are the tightest band around. Great tunes, lots of politics and the stuff he says is largely entertaining. I'll be curious what his rant will be when they hit Canada. As for KISS, they seemed to be off a 1/2 step all evening. The sound was uneven early in the show (the crew was late setting up - no soundcheck?)and some of the pyro just wasn't working. Ace also seemed off much of the night on his solos and just flatout missed notes, especially during his solo. He also had trouble with his rockets and took forever to get the first one out, to the point where he looked like he got panicy (at least that's how it looked from the 11th row). Gene also couldn't get his flying contraption to work and sang God of Thunder from the stage. While they did have these problems, they more than made up for it with their energy. Paul and Peter really seemed to be having a good time and were great with the crowd. It was a packed house and the crowd didn't sit for a second, from the time Won't Get Fooled Again came on until R&R All Night closed. Great night over all, gets a rating of 4 beers out of a six pack.
