KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jim
I drove down on my anniversary (a tribute to how great my wife is) to catch them in Carbondale. I wish I'd have seen the in St. Lou, but I had commitments that kept me way.

Skid Row showed why they were chosen to open up. Yeah, they sounded ok, but a show? None.

Sweaty Teddy found his target market. His fellow hunters and fishermen were in the crowd. I agree with the other review that he sounded great and got a bigger crowd response than Kiss. Though he sounded great, the rants were annoying.

Everyone has stated the problem with the audience. Here's my take: 1) I was in the bleachers - yes, bleachers. Half the seats were your standard high school gym bleachers. Not sturdy, safe or comfortable. The tickets did not mention this. Standing was a little bit of a challenge since your feet only had a small plank to stand on. Miss the plank, and you would fall.

2) The floor had no seats. If you were on the floor, You stood from the time the doors opened until the show was over. That's a bitch, coupled with the next two lines.

3) There was no water or beer. Beer, ok, I understand. But water??????? I thought that was illegal!!! Soda is ok, but with the heat, water would have been better.

4) No A/C. It really was Hotter Than Hell. When the pyros kicked in, I could feel the heat wave, and iwas near the top, at the back of the arena. It must have been horriblew for the guys on stage.

These four items made it a long and arduous time. The band sounded great. Every song was perfect, except for when they lost sound. It was very apparent at the end of 2000 Man. The band was very animated, especially for the first few songs. I've never seen Ace so active on stage. The previous reviewer was right about Peter. He looked like he was going through the motions. Maybe it was the heat. Gene was alright, but he did cuss during the spotlight problem. Not a good moment for the kids. Despite the other review, Gen did give an A-hole and an MF. It sounded like Peter also gave a F-U to someone in the front row during Beth. I guess I was the only one who noticed. I don't want to sound too negative. I'm just trying to give my spin on some of the other comments. Kiss sounded and looked great. Their entrance and the confetti was exceptionally cool.
