KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Daniel Menestres
Well, this was the fifth and (most likely) final time that I have seen the band. It was the third time this year after Knoxville and Raleigh, and this show was great. It's hard to believe that this is really it for them. To be able to see KISS on the second to last night of the American tour was really something.

The show rocked from the beginning. It was good to see Skid Row play an extra 15-20 minutes. They added a few different songs in the set and this was their best show of the three performances I've seen this year. The crowd really seemed to be into it, singing along to many of the songs. It was really great to hear the old songs like "18 And Life", "I Remember You", "Youth Gone Wild", etc. I will definitely see them next time they're in town.

KISS hit the stage and it was non-stop from the opening notes of "Detroit Rock City" to the end of "Rock N' Roll All Night." All of them were on fire and gave great performances. For a band that has been on tour since March, they certainly didn't show it. I really can't pick out the "best" song since every one of them was great. The set list was the same as the other two shows I saw this year but I'm not complaining at all. It was great to sing along with all of the songs. They also didn't make a few of the mistakes that I saw earlier this year. Charlotte was nearly flawless. I really couldn't have asked for more.

KISS has always thanked their fans and they always give their best performance. All of the solos were fantastic, especially Ace's. There's a reason I have a tattoo of Ace Frehely on my leg and the band logo from Alive 2 on my back.

The one problem with the show was not the fault of the band. There was one section of the Charlotte Coliseum that got all of the feedback from the guitars, especially Ace Frehley's. I happened to be in that section and I paid for it. My ears didn't stop ringing until late Saturday afternoon. That's part of the show and if my ears weren't ringing I would have been disappointed. I'm glad that wasn't the case. Thanks to the band for putting on a great show as always. I'll never forget the five KISS concerts that I've seen since 1996, especially this one.
