KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Steve Wilder
This was my 15th time seeing the boys, dating back to the mid 70's, and the second time I have seen them on the Farewell Tour. The first time, at the Allstate Arena, the sound was terrible, to the point you often couldn't even make out the song being played. I've got to tell ya, last night had to be the best show I have ever seen them perform. Everything was on course, and when the occassional glitch happened (Peter screwing up "Beth", Ace's flying guitar, Gene missing the lyrics, etc) they played through it and had fun. That was the biggest thing we noticed...they really seemed to have fun on stage last night. Even Gene...usually commanding and stoic on stage...was seen up close with an ear to ear smile on more than one occasion...especially when he stepped up to the microphone and hissed "wazzup"!

The crowd at the World Music Theatre was into the show from the first blast of DRC. While not the biggest crowd (somewhere between 8000 and 10000) those who were present really rocked the house. And whoever ran the sound board was doing an outstanding job...I can't remember the band ever sounding so crisp and clear...especially at an outdoor event. Not quite sure why Ted Nugent wasn't on the card last night, but Skid Row played for over an hour, and really put on a nice show too. I'm not much of a Skid Row fan, but they did a great job last night. And the downtime between Skid Row and Kiss was minimal...barely enough time to get a beer!!!

We hated to see the show end, but all good things do come to an end, and if that is true, then this was the way I want to remember it. The band sounded great, the guys were truly having fun, the crowd was fantastic, and weather perfect: the show rated a 10!

Thanks KISS, and we'll keep hoping you make another pass through the area.

A final PS: To a great KISS fan and great friend Brad "THE BOS" Boswell...you missed this show to go on a friggin honeymoon??? Are you nuts...you can get married any time...this was just really poor planning on your part! Seriously, congratulations on your marriage, and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness. We didn't even notice you weren't there!
