KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Zach Broderick
It was hard to be sad and say goodbye to Kiss, when you're having so much fun. The night started out with Skid Row entering the stage to a bass heavy, club-like beat. Their stage set-up was simplistic, with an 80's light rig and the classic Skid Row backdrop. They came out smokin' with "Riot Act", then continued with hits off of Slave to the Grind (exellent version of "Monkey Buisiness")and many hits off of their debut albulm like "I remember you," "Makin' a Mess," "Piece of Me," and a great extended version of "18 and Life." The new singer was great. Many people around me mistook him for Sebastian Bach, but he didn't miss a note and paraded around the stage like a classic rock n' roll frontman and had a cool speech about how much the mainstream is terrible, which led the band to close the night with "Youth Gone Wild." I was able to meet Dave the "Snake" Sabo after the show and he was really cool and down to earth, him and Scotti Hill were in great form and shape, awesome solos. The crowd was pumped, 20 minutes later the lights went out, the classic blue lights scanned the crowd. Since I was watching the show from the stage, I could see snippits of the band and then the announcer did his bit and BOOM!!!!!! Fireworks, gliter, glam, and rock n' roll dropped from the sky and the band danced around stage to the sounds of "Detroit Rock City." They were larger than life, Gene took his giant steps everywhere, Paul shook his ass and Ace took center stage to give the crowd a lesson in rock n'roll 101. They quickly went into "Deuce," where Gene shouted the lyrics and got the crowd going nuts. Paul did his usual shinanagans, playing deuce behind his head and under his legs, giving just about everyone in the first 10 rows a pick. I actually got an awesome Ace pick. After Deuce was the classic "Shout it out loud." More explosions, more fire, and more fun. They went on to perform classics like "Let me go rock n' roll," "Psycho Circus," "Dr. Love," and "Do you Love me," where they rolled footage of their careers over the last 27 years. The pyro on "Heavens on Fire" was hot enough to singe your eyebrows. Ace took center stage where he said "Chicago??? You ready to rock?" and then went into "Shock Me." He also sang "2000 man." Gene did his bit when he spit blood and rose to the top during "God of Thunder." Perhaps one of the highlights of the night was when a young blonde girl was lured onstage by Gene, and imitated oral sex and much touching. Gene folloewed it crossing his arms and getting the approval of the testosterome fuled crowd, and even the women. Paul did his solo with "Black Diamond" and Love Gun" wher he flew on a harness across the stage to a platform and sang the song from out in the middle of the arena. Peter encored with a heartfelt version of "Beth" where he thanked Chicago for the years, aand then the night wouldn't be complete without Kiss doing "Rock n' Roll all night." Confetti flew everwhere, fireworks lit up the stage, and then the band thanked the crowd for the years, and took their bow. We also said goodbye to the hottest band in the world, and the best show ever."
