KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Robby Coleman
Let me just say that this makes my sixth time seeing KISS, and that I've been listening to their music since I was three (I'm 23 now.) There is no other band that has been a part of my life for that long, and I doubt there ever will be again. But...

Last night's show in Columbus was, at best, average. There seemed to be a lot of technical problems, Peter's drumming was off for almost the whole show, the crowd really wasn't into it, and the setlist was exactly the same as when I saw the show in April. The band just seemed tired.

I finally have come to accept the fact that this is the last tour. I'm finally OK with it. It's better to go out now, with heads held high, than to keep going until KISS becomes nothing more than a punchline. I mean, they've been at this for 27 years now, with something going on practically every year. They've given more to the fans than any other band ever has, and I'm sure they will continue to do so (box sets, movies, books, whatever.) But now I think it's time to bow out gracefully, to get out before they turn into a self-parody.

If I had never seen KISS before, last night's show would've made me a believer in the power, might, and glory of rock and roll. But I have seen them before, and I know that they're capable of so much more.

So, I'm willing to let them go. I'll always have my memories, and one day I'll be able to tell my children about the greatest rock and roll band of all time.

Thank you Ace, Gene, Paul, and Peter for making a lot of my dreams come true, and best of luck in all you do. KISS may cease to be, but the KISS Army will live forever.
