KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Bryan
Hey KISS Army! Dallas was my second chance too see KISS on this tour, having seen them in Bakersfield on March 21st. What luck that I would be attending an event in Dallas when KISS rolled into town to treat me to some kick ass rock n' roll. Special thanks to my bud Gary and his girl Funquita Jackson for comp 7th row seats at the Starplex. (It is great knowing someone that knows someone within the KISS system) Now the review:

Skid Row - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (Wake me up when it's over) Seeing them once in my lifetime was sufficient.

Ted Nugent - I was unimpressed with Mr. Nugent's political views at the Bakersfield show, and now even more so after seeing him in Dallas. Mr. Nugent is now using the word "faggot" during his set. "Fuck the Mexican Federales Faggots" and "This song is so sexy, even the faggots out the audience will be eating pussy tonight" There is enough hate and prejudice in the world without using offensive words like "faggot" especially at a concert. I noticed that at the end of "Great White Buffalo" he was spouting off about "making sacrifices" as he put his black guitar up on a hook attached to one of the amps. That section of the stage went dark as he got out his crossbow. I saw a roadie take the guitar he had up on the hook and replace it with a replica guitar to made it look like he had the same one. Mr. Nugent then grabbed the replica guitar and shot a flaming arrow through it. What a PHONY! He made everyone believe that he was "sacrificing" his nice expensive guitar. I used to be a ! fan of his, but now I can say that I am not. Mr. Nugent can KISS MY ASS - KISS MY ASS - KISS MY ASS!

KISS - Another great show! They sounded great, and played the same set they have been doing, so I had no expectations about any different songs being played. I was hoping that they would work "I Stole Your Love" back into the set, but they didn't. Ace was throwing guitar picks into the audience and smiling a lot, he was in great spirits. Gene was also playful to our section, squirting people with his bottles of water and encouraging the women in the front row to take their tops off. Peter doing his usual great job on the drums, and Paul was making love to the audience as only he can. I loved the video retrospect of the guys during the years. Seeing a clip of Gene on the Mike Douglas Show brought back some memories of 70's television. A couple of funny moments from the show, when Paul introduced Ace to Sing "Shock Me" Paul couldn't remember what album the song was on. He "high fived" Ace, as he took the microphone, Ace said "I Don't remember what album it is on either, but it's a song about getting electrocuted" Also, when Ace was about to start his solo, a dragonfly was buzzing around him, then eventually flew around his face. He batted it away as he was laughing about it. My biggest laugh of the evening was in the line to take a wizz. This guy was in line talking about what a big KISS fan he was, and how he has seen them a dozen times. When a couple guys walked by dressed as Peter and Gene wearing business suits, this "Big KISS Fan" said "KISS in suits? Now that is a new one." I guess this "big fan" doesn't have "Dressed To Kill" in his album collection. LOL! I should have asked him what his favorite song off "Unmaksed" or "The Elder" is. I always like to make "big fans" like that squirm when they can't answer questions only a TRUE KISS FAN could.

Can't wait to see the boys in Devore California, in June. Taking my 2 brothers & sister to the show, since we all grew up with KISS. We haven't done anything together in years, and I am glad the magic of a KISS concert will enable us to do that!

Thanks for all the great years guys! Lots Of Love!
