KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Dean
Kiss kicks ass once again!!! This show was the perfect spirit lifter after a recent tragedy. Everyone was superb with Gene sounding the best in my opinion. For some reason, he seemed more evil and menacing during God of Thunder which was great. Ace sounded the best at this concert compared to my previous Kiss shows. At those other shows (two during the Reunion and one during Psycho Circus tours), he sounded choppy and off at times. His 2000 Man was incredible and I always love his part in Cold Gin. I hope Alive 4 will have that because it really rocks. Paul has a voice that will last forever. He belts out strong stuff and keeps on belting. I look forward to any future projects of his. Peter, despite what others may say, drummed very well and was full of life. His solo may not have been as powerful as the one on Alive, but he was great for a man his age. He seemed to have an embarassing moment when his microphone cut out during Beth, but he recovered well. In addition, no pain in the butt shined a laser light this time around.

The set list was a lot of the usual classic songs: Deuce, Firehouse, Love Gun, Detroit Rock City and so on. The addition of I Love it Loud and Heaven's on Fire were appropriate non-makeup era gems. However, Lick it Up didn't have the punch like the other two. A better choice would have been Unholy. That would have fit well with Gene's personality and the makeup. Also, the soundtrack for Beth is sounding worn. I would have preferred Ace or Paul playing an acoustic version of the music. Despite the little things, if this is my last Kiss show, I am more than satisfied. Although I will miss this fab four, it's best they go out before they lose it. You can only take so many trips to the well before it dries up.

In closing, I would like to thank Ace, Gene, Peter and Paul for many great songs and shows. Best of luck in all you do. I look forward to seeing what the future brings from these guys even though they (most likely) won't be together after this tour.
