KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Raymond Hale
I must say that it has been a long wait but it finally came last night. Wednesday, June 28 2000. Continental Airlines Arena. KISS!!!!!! I have been a KISS fanatic since I can remember and it has been a long and glorious ride. It is such a shame that it is all over. I guess I can just hope for a solo tour or maybe a new KISS with Gene, Paul, and two others. (preferribly Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer!) Well I guess it is on to the show. Me and my friend Brian started the evening with a little bit of tailgating outside the building. After all we were in no rush at all to see Skid Row in all of their worthless glory. We headed in and got to our seats when Ted Nugent came on. He was fantastic. He did Dog Eat Dog, Cat Scratch Fever, and Sweet Poontang. He did a few other songs but I did not know them. He had a great speech about Foreign people, Janet Reno, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Jim Florio. He was so funny. He did his whole “shoot a flaming arrow at a guitar and have it explode thing and that was cool. After a breif intermission the lights went out. Then the all familiar voice does the introduction.

All right East Rutherford, You wanted the best, you got the Best. The hottest Band in the world..KISS!

Detroit Rock City
In my opinion this is the second best show opener for KISS with the first being Creatures of the Night. Massive amounts of Pyro to open this one up. All four delivered the goods on this one. Paul certanly did not let us down on the vocals. What a kick ass rendition of DRC. Their was a really cool video clip on the view screen to co-encide with the last verse of the song. A must see!
Deuce The guys again were on the ball with this one. Great Rocker and a steller performance from Ace.
Shout It Out Loud
I Love It Loud
I was a little weary about the non-makeup material but I was quickly straightened out. They performed this song like it was meant to be done. Peter did a fabulous job.
Shock Me
Firehouse
Do You Love Me
Fantastic rendition. The retrospective video clips gave me goosebumps.
Calling Dr. Love
Heaven's On Fire
Just like I Love it Loud, this one was done to perfection. It was cool to hear Ace and Peter’s vocals on this one.
Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll
2000 Man
Very cool Guitar solo!!!
Psycho Circus
Lick It Up
God Of Thunder
Cold Gin
100,000 Years
Love Gun
My all time favorite KISS song and one of the biggest showstoppers. One of the Highlights of the show!
I Still Love You/Black Diamond
This was my favorite moment in the show. Paul, all by himself, intimate with all of the fans. Outstanding performance.
Beth
Rock And Roll All Nite
There was a disgusting amount of pyro and confetti on this one. It never seemed to end. It was excellent!!!!!

I just briefly went through the show, but let me tell you. If you collect bootlegs, hunt this one down!!!! This was the best KISS show I have been to and at no point in the show was I disappointed. I know that Gene and Paul have been known to overhype many things but this is not the case. I never thought that the show would be this outstanding. The only thing that I was concerned with was Peter. First off, I have never really been a big fan of Peter Criss until last night. His drumming ability has definatley faded. If you watch the view screen and watch him play it seems like he is not hitting the drums very hard at all. They may have the microphones on his drum kit maxed. All of this is related to his physical problems with his hands and arms. But, boy the guy played his heart out and gave it his all. God Bless Him. If you are reading this and you have givin’ some thought into possibly going to see one of the shows on the Farewell Tour but have not decided. GO NOW! At the very least go to see Peter because I know he will not be back again. As for all of the other guys, well they were smoking! I have about 50 KISS bootlegs and have heard a whole lot more and they never sounded better than they did last night. I was so glad I was a part of it.

I know that there will be shows at Madison Square Garden to close out the tour, but in case I can not come up with tickets for those shows I can most definatley say that this is the way I want to remember them by. I spent the last 16 years of my life as a flag waveing member of the KISS ARMY. I dreadded the day when they would hang it up, but the day has come and I have been completely satisfied. I look forward to the future KISS releases.

I would love to hear your feed back on my review. Send me an email.
