KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Ryan Berrigan
I had the good fortune to see the band in Dallas back in April, so it was to my surprise that just four months later they would be playing 25 minutes away! I've seen the band 24 times and had been really blown away by the Dallas Farewell show just months earlier, so my expectations were high. Sad to say, for the first time I felt let down and disappointed. The show now felt like a beloved relative who stayed to long as a house guest. What can I say, the show was one sloppy unprofessional mess. Peter's playing was so off, even non musicians were noticing how off he was. Gene started "I Love it Loud" with the third verse and never really knew how to recover. Paul rapped about what a glorious "Holy Thursday" it was, (even though it was wednesday). Gene sang one to many choruses on Rock N' Roll All Nite. Ace would disappear off the stage in between most of the songs and showed up late on a few numbers. Paul fell over once while trying to flirt with some bimbo in the front row. And oh yeah...Ace thanked the crowd at the end of 2000 man saying "2000 Houston!" Only problem, this was Fort Worth. Boy, it seems they became every one of the cliches they rant about during Paul's tired raps about bands not delivering the goods. And for that kind of money, they didn't. I love the band dearly and only wish they had called it a day while they were on top. (Or at least the first time they came to town for their final performance)
