KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Troy Ternes
This was a GREAT show!!! My friend Roger turned 60 that day (Aug. 23rd) and what better way to bring in your 60th birthday - than with 20,000 screaming KISS fans!! We were right up front - 1st row - almost dead center!!!

When we first arrived at the arena - We found Pam - the make-up booth lady. As always... I got my face painted up as Paul. I asked Pam how much longer this tour is gonna go on - she said it has been extented untill November - possibly December. Roger and I then went over to the t-shirt stand... I noticed they added 2 really cool t-shirts. One shirt had the "Dressed To Kill" artwork on the front - that shirt was soooo cool!! on the back of it - it had the same picture - only inverted - like the actual album. The other shirt had a classic photo from the 70's - not sure how to describe it - it's the group photo with the silver glitter in the background - and they have on their Destroyer costumes - on the back of the shirt - it had the photo from the 2nd Coming home video - cool shirt - I got that one - because the Dressed To Kill shirts were sold out when I got up there.

When we got to our seats - Ted Nugent was still playing - he was great as always... and when he said the famous line... "If you can't speak English...... " nobody seemed to mind - he had the crowd on their feet.

The only bad thing about this show.. was that the security was horrible!! It almost turned into a general addmission show - there were people crowded in the rows everywhere who did not belong there - The thing that turned me off was this huge FAT guy - right behind me - he must have weighed about 400 pounds - and I am not joking - to top it all off - he had horrendous body oder!! Luckly.. he moved on a short time later. Now that I think about it.. there seemed to have been ALOT of fat people there. The rest of the crowd around us were all pretty cool.

Anyway.... When KISS came on.... there I was - all ready with my camera - I got some awesome shots of Paul - woof!!! The band looked really good - with the exception of Ace - seeing Ace from the first row was not a pretty site - as he really needs to get his face tightened - (a face-lift) - he has major wrinkles!! Gene looked good... UNTIL AFTER THE 1ST SONG... After that - he was all sweaty already!!! His make-up was already off - on his chin - lots of sweat running down from him. Peter looked good - and played well - although.. no drum solo. and as always (BEST FOR LAST) Paul was a VISION!!! He looked so fine!! WOOF!!!~ There he was... right in front of me - nice broad shoulders, 6-pack abdominal muscules, firm thighs, great smile, and incredibility nice righteous a**!! I was looking at it all night!!! I could go on and on all night long and explain how great this man looked - and I STILL wouldn't be finished!! There is this one move that Paul does - where he turns around - bends over - and plays his guitar between his legs - and has his a** sticking out - right in our faces - which did not suck by the way!! There I was - with my camera - and got some GREAT shots on him!!! Paul put a guitar pick in his mouth - and spit it out at me - it landed on my forehead - it stuck there - I didn;t even know it was there - untill Roger pulled it off.

The band sounded great - the only time Ace was late getting on stage - was during God of Thunder - I kinda had the feeling that he was just "going through the motions".... Lots of bras got thrown up on stage, and there were alot of girls showing their breasts... There were these 4 girls who were dressed very provocatively, who got to stand right up front where the cameramen & security people are - they were showing there breasts all night - and some of the cameramen were paying more attention to them - than they were the band!! I said to this one girl... "Do you mind if I videotape you also??? So I can show it to your parents, and perhaps you can play it during your next family reunion - you can say -""This is how I spent my summer vacation"".... She gave me a dirty look, along with the middle finger.

Anyway... all and all... it was a great show - my only complaint is that the security should have been better.
