KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jim Youker
I won't say too much about Skid Row and Ted. Skid Row was ok and Ted did rock but I have to say he got kind of annoying pretty quickly with all of his political bull crap and F-this and F-that. KISS came on stage at 9:20 or so and I have to say that first off I LOVE the new stage it is SWEET. I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a GREAT show. Ace, Gene, Paul, and Peter all looked as though they were having a great time the entire show. They were all laughing and having fun. The set list was the same as the rest of the shows. One thing Paul did was he played the begining (with vocals) to "I Still Love You"...kinda' cool. The arena was very small and therefore the concert was LOUD, but the sound was AWESOME. I have to say Ace kicked ass on his guitars the whole night long. He added that special touch to the 80's songs as ONLY he can. That trademark Ace Frehley tone was everywhere and was simply awesome. The only real hitches came when Gene went to fly for God of Thunder and when Paul went to go to the island on the floor. They tried several times to get Gene to fly but each time he only went a foot or two off of the ground and he ended up singing the song on the stage. When it was time for paul to fly, they evidently didn't get him up high enough and as he moved out over the crowd, everyone was grabbing his boots and he couldn't move very well so they slid him back to the stage. Both incidents were handled very well and the band went in stride with it. The show was simply AWESOME start to finish. This was the first of 4 shows for me on the Farewell tour (saw 4 on the reunion tour) and was a great kick-off to the other shows.
