KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Greg Zagelow
If you have never been to the Gorge, sux 2 b u .My first show there was Stevie Ray Vaughn opening for Joe Cocker, but first isnt always best.Steely Dan were good, but the crowd was WAY too mellow.Fleetwood Mac and CSN (With YES the next day)had their moments.Sting bored me to tears. The more I reminisce about all the shows Ive seen at The Gorge, the clearer it becomes-they arent called the "hottest band in the world" for nothing-KISS rules them all!!!!!

THe Gorge is named for the Columbia River gorge that the concert site has a prime veiw of.Carved by an immense river created when the Ice age ended(SHORT STORY) it is staggering to think of how much water flowed thru to carve the gorge. (see the back cover of Steely Dans "Alive in America" for a picture of the concert site)

Ted Nugent rocked,as expected.(I met Ted at a Bowhunting thing in Spokane-hes taller than you think-his wife is hotter than hell)His extreme right-wing comments were great comedy, but it saddens me to think he was serious. I lost a little respect for Ted that evening.I should add that we purpously missed Squid Blow-they suck.

KIss rocked as never before!!!This was my sixth KISS show and by far the best.THe sound was amazing(and Im a picky fucker, too)the wind distoted it occasionaly, but hey,its KISS outdoors!!!THe whole band rocked the sell-out crowd all night!! It didnt lag and drag like NewYears did (Alive 4 my ass!!) IT had the polished, professional Tacoma Dome show feel and lots more.Pauls solo version of "I still love you" showed he has been practicing and the Theatre has done him some good. Ace was in top form-I was never impressed with Ace live until now-his stutterstep in "Shock Me" was a highlight. Gene spit major blood-then got bashed around before he made it to te top of his flying rig(which was way way higher than any of the shows I'd seen before)Peter rocked-Beth made my girlfriend cry-His parts are watered daown from whats on the albums, but his execution was good, his bass drum has gotten much better since the first reunion show. There werent many mistakes to write about(unlike NwwYears)so I bid them and you FAREWELL
