KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Trish Jeffers
WOW !!!! That really is the only word that could do this band, this phenomenon any justice. From the opening curtain to the very last piece of pyrotechnics, it was the biggest and best spectacle that I have ever been privileged to witness. These modern day gods of music and showmanship never once gave any hint that there is any reason for them to quit, the show was unbelievable!

They opened with Detroit Rock City (of course), and we Aussies got one hell of a treat when they proceeded to play most of their hits and even some real oldies. I can’t remember the exact playlist because I was just too damn excited!!!!! The moment when Ace began his guitar solo really hit home to me that I was in the presence of greatness. This man can play so well that he mesmerizes people, he took us with him through every note and made us really feel like we were flying through space (back to Jendell of course). Eric singer on the drums, well it certainly was amazing! He had us in the palm of his hand with his hypnotic drum solo. It really did sound and look awesome, it had a primal tribal feel about it. The drum solo finale with the tips of the sticks on fire showed everyone that he truly did belong up there with those guys. Now we come to Gene and his evil, bloodsucking, psychotic bat bass solo. When he came out with the axe we all new what was coming, he never let us down. With the blood slowly dribbling down his throat and his eyes taking on that demonic look that he gets, he was still the sexiest looking creature I have ever seen! The moment when he flies up to the rafters to begin God of Thunder was greeted with an awesome round of applause from the crowd and when he started to sing everybody stopped to listen. That man just owns a crowd when he comes onto a stage.

Now we are left with Paul and his high flying butt!!! I would not have missed this man and his performance for anything. His voice is as good now as it ever was and he really should not be giving up. His flight into the audience for Love Gun almost sent some members of the crowd nuts! He was so close to them but just out of reach. He gets the biggest reaction from people and he deserves every bit of it, he works hard to give us the show that we want to see. His gyrating hips had every woman there wanting him and he makes you feel as if he wants you too. The biggest treat was when he came out on stage by himself and sang a full version of Shandi for us. To hear that many people all singing Shandi sounded amazing, it was the highlight of the night for me as it is my favourite song. He then sang Hard Luck Woman and had thousands of voices to help him complete it (even though he didn’t need us). He made us all feel as if he couldn’t do it without us and we all loved him just a little bit more because of it!

So to finish I will just say that I have witnessed the greatest show on earth, how is anything else ever going to beat that? I know that Kiss will never forget us, and we will never forget them!!!!!!!!
