KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jon D
Well,well.....after being a Kiss fan for 23 years and seeing roughly about 18 shows. Of course I was more than a bit sentimental about this tour. The end? farewell? Dont say it's so boys!!

I had the benefit of getting seats really close to the stage, thanks to the presale on the VH1 website. Plus, two of my friends that went with me were going to their first ever show.

I totally missed Skid Row, I had no interest in them at all. Terrible Ted came wang-dangin on at about 745. He's a great guitar player, one of the best. But I thought he would've done better if he had a singer besides him in the band like the past. Teddy did all of the hits (Stormtroopin, Free for all, Dog Eat Dog, Strangelhold). He wore a confederate flag jacket and made fun of Janet Reno and Bill Clinton a lot. I had no problem with that at all....It was all tonque in cheek.

Like I said before I was incredibly close to the stage, I could see all of the facial expressions of the band and watched them interact together. It's amazing how much Gene is giving orders (talking to the techs on stage and directing them), Peter and Gene would be joking with each other between songs, great to see it up close.

The new intro works very well, actually playing Detroit Rock City while being lowered to the stage. I must admit that out of all of KISS shows Ive seen, this was the best stage. It's a combination of the Alive 2 and Reunion tour stages. The band was happy and very into it, and the crowd was nuts giving the place a great vibe all night. The songs were the same one's as usual, "I love it Loud" was actually early in the set (4th song) and sounded great, in fact all of the 80's stuff sounded excellent with the original members.

Ace's solo was cool as he played parts of Hard Times, Parasite, Snowblind(yeah!!!), and New York Groove. I dont know what they did to Peter but he sounded amamzing. Actually doing a little bit more than just playing it straight, sounding close to the way he used to sound. Gene was even talking to the auidence a little during songs, rare for him.

I must admit that this was the best show Ive seen from Kiss since they reunited in 1996. They were tight and into it. I still have 4 more shows to go (Jones Beach, NY,Buffalo, NY, Raleigh NC and MSG when they go on sale.) I'm looking foward to all them.......dont miss this tour.
