KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jeff Koger
KISS proved tonight why they are indeed "The greatest show on Earth"! I've been reading reviews from "fans" who complain about the lack of originality in the set-list; this is a FAREWELL TOUR, therefore a celebration of all that the band is about. They HAVE to play the standards. Yes, there are some of the more obscure songs that I would have loved hearing live. But the point is, why play "Ladies in Waiting" when that isn't something that they're known for? You want to hear obscure songs? On the Convention Tour in '95, they took audience requests. I personally saw them do "Strange Ways" (with Eric Singer on vocals), "Shandi", and Paul attempting to do "Shock Me". You didn't see the Convention Tour? As the T-Shirts said: Fuck You - You Blew It! THAT was the chance to hear the obscure songs. THIS is about the history of the band. As for the people who have said that Ace and Peter look disgusted at having to play "Lick it Up", etc. What show were you watching? Ace and Peter seemed to be into the ENTIRE show, non-makeup songs included. Peter really seemed into "I Love it Loud". If some feel that Ace doesn't seem "into" a non-makeup song, perhaps they should consider: he's playing a song that he's never had to play before, and do a solo that he didn't write. I would think this would take a bit more concentration than playing something like "Duece" which I'll bet he could play in his sleep. The entire band were into the whole show. I especially liked the classic footage that was shown on the screen during "Do You Love Me". A lot of this I had never seen, and the quality was pure mint! It makes me hope that Gene and Paul will continue to release vintage video footage "from the vaults". The band looked great, sounded great, and seemed to be having the time of their lives. I expected to feel a little sad knowing this was the farewell tour, but it wasn't sad at all. It was definitely a celebration of the band AND their loyal fans. Thank you KISS for all the music and memories, and best wishes to each of you in your future projects.
