KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Joe Motley
Skid Row did the expected (Youth gone Wild,I Remember You, Monkey Business,etc.). Totally unexpected, however was how good they were. This new singer was very good and could keep up with Bach any day! The Motor City Madman was awesome and his power trio featured Tony Aldridge on the skins. You might remember this drummer for his work with OZZY on Blizzard and Diary albums. The set was good and tight. You never know what Ted Nugent is going to say, and tonight was no different. Racial slurs and a very foul mouth nonwithstanding. Musically, though, a fantastic set. Then it was showtime! We wanted the best, and we certainly got it! A full 2 hours of classic KISS with the surprise additions of 'Lick it up','I love it loud','Heaven's on fire'and'Psycho Circus'. The show was great! It seemed to take Paul and Ace about a song and a half to really get into it but when it clicked, it was a non stop throttle ride to the end! The event was outdoors and rain threatened all day. The night turned out perfect and the soldout crowd of over 16,000 didn't see rain until they were in their cars and on the road. The show went without a hitch and the Demon's and Starchild's flights were awesome!!! As always, Paul really got the crow into it, and for one overcast night in Houston, Texas, everyone in the pavillion felt like they were #1 and that KISS was there just for them. The set list was standard KISS fare and peolple of all age groups were represented. I saw kids from maybe 5 or 6 to people in their 50's. Plenty of fans were in costume and face painting was available at the venue. I encourage anyone planning to go to a show on this tour to paint their faces to show how much you love these guys. They put heart and soul into their performances and we could do the same for them! Again the show was fantastic. The only thing strange about the otherwise perfect evening was the fact that this is the last time we'll see KISS in this format. They will be sorely missed.
