KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Joey
I arrived at The Woodlands about 4:00 PM. There were alot of die hard fans already there. Some of them I have been friends with for years. We all talked about everything to do with Kiss. They didn't open the gates till 5:30 pm. Then we had to wait till the stage was setup all the way before we could take our seats. When they let us free, me and some friends all ran to the center of the lawn for a perfect view of the show. I was right in the center stage. Skid Row was alright. The new singer is pretty good. I found the show to be short to say the least. I prefer Bach still. The local DJ for KLOL (Outlaw Dave) came out and did an April Fools joke on everyone saying Kiss isn't going to play tonite. Ted Nugent kicked ass. He got the crowd all fired up for Kiss. I thought his show was much better than when I saw him on The Crazy Nights Tour. Cat Scratch Fever and Stranglehold still brings the house down everytime he plays them.

Now it was getting close to Kiss time. When I heard We Won't Get Fooled Again on the PA. I knew it was time. When they put up that big black curtain with the gray Kiss logo on it. The crowd started to Cheer. Kiss came down from the top of the stage kinda of like the thing they used on the Animalize tour. The stage had 2 Kiss logos on each side. Kiss opened with Detriot Rock City. Where I was sitting I could see everything that happened. All the pyro and lighting. I thought it was awesome. Deuce was next on the list. Gene was really into the show. I can't believe the amount of energy he had.

Now a short review of the setlist and things I noticed.

Shout It Out Loud

I Love It Loud * Great crowd singing here. Peter's drums sound like thunder *

Shock Me * Ace was on fire. Great vocal and solo *

Firehouse * Watch the monitor here. There is a skull climbing a latter with flames below it. The sirens were very loud too. Gene did the firebreathing. *

Do You Love Me? * Monitor had lots of cool photos and video clips on it *

Dr Love Psycho Circus * Showed parts of the video on the monitor *

Heaven's On Fire * Sounded much better than it did on VH1. The drums had some thunder. Watch for the flames. They are hot! *

Let Me Go, Rock and Roll * They played the full live version. Someone said they were playing it short in another review. *

2,000 Man * Ace was on fire like I said. Watch the monitor. They show the Kiss Immortals on it. Ace's solo did't include the melodys I have read about *

Lick It Up * Paul sings the chorse to start the song. Peter sounded great on this one too. + or - a few fills I am use to hearing live. *

God Of Thunder * Gene flew up for this one. The crowd loved it. *

Cold Gin * Gene and Ace split the lead vocal again. *

100,000 years ( Extended drum solo here. Paul does the usuall mic around the neck *

Love Gun * The place went nuts when Paul went out in the audience. I looked at the stage and Gene and Ace had a purple florescent light on them. Very high point in the show. *

Black Diamond * Peter's vocal sounded like Eric Singer's. I was impressed. Gene and Ace were on risers. Peter's drum kit went up too. Paul broke a guitar at the end. *

Encores
Beth * 16,000 fans singing Beth with Peter. You can't go wrong! *

Rock and Roll All Nite * Ace had the spinning thing on his guitar for the solo. They had lots of pyro at the end.

This was one of the best Kiss shows I have ever seen. I encourage everyone to see it. Fuck what some others have said about the show. If you are a Kiss fan. You will love this show.

As I was walking out. On the monitor it said. Thank you Houston! We Love You! Then God Gave Rock N Roll to you was playing over the PA. I went to get another shirt and I couldn't talk cause I have lost my voice. I had to point at the shirt I wanted.
