KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Seamus O'Reilly
Believe you me, the drive from San Francisco to Irvine is a not a fun one, espescially in a car without air conditioning and dealing with LA traffic. I got to the amphitheatre 5 minutes before Skids came on and I havent seen them since Portland so it was fun again. Not-Bas sounded hoarse but Im assuming he isnt used to playing so many shows for so long. Ted was Ted but it was very funny, during Great White Buffalo when he 'sacrices' his guitar he forgot to bring it to the other side of the stage, aimed his arrow and realized there was nothing there.

KISS was on their game tonight, no real surprises other than Ace almost being a no show. I wondered that as the Van Halen intro went alot longer than usual. Some random tidbits-before Shock Me Paul didnt do his usual "electricity" bit, they just introed the song. Paul goofed up Do You Love Me, Dr Love didnt have any intro other than the title. Gene sounded great on Let Me Go RNR, I've never noticed how cool his bass actually is on that song. Before Love Gun Paul talked about how "it takes quite a state to make me leave New York" and Peter, before Beth, asked if there was anyone from New York at the show.

All in all, they sounded great. In Black Diamond, apparently Genes "got you under his thumb" which is the first time since Mountain View I've heard Peter say that.

It was a great show. Next stop-Devore!
