KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Joe Brown
Review after review says the same thing...except mine. I was fortunate enough to see KISS six times in 96-97. This show fails miserably in comparison to that show. I was able to have 14th row dead center which put me at stage height, fifty feet from the band. I couldn't believe the performance that I saw. More than a few times, the band screwed up the timing of the song, Peter came in late on the drums, Ace didn't kneel during "Black Diamond" and get "slayed" by Gene and Paul. As much as I hate to say it, the years are gaining them...fast. I didn't see the enthusiam so prevalent during the past shows. Paul's speeches, albeit canned, were delivered with the speed of a race car. I'm used to Paul getting the crowd whipped into a frenzy. Even though I heard "you always need something to cool you off" a million times, Paul made it seem like any old song.

During "God of Thunder", Ace didn't even join Paul on stage until midway through the second verse! Gimme a break.

I'm sure that I'll get plenty of e-mail claiming blasphemy and heresy. But you know what? Friday night the band sucked and do not let any one tell you otherwise. I've seen them play much better and the performance Friday was as poor as the one on VH1 months ago (opening night).

I love this band as much as the next KISS fan but sometimes the truth hurts and that's the hardest part to deal with.....
