KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: The ANTI-PAUL
KISS Live in Concert on 8/2/00 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This concert of the KISS Farewell Tour, was much better that the previous Farewell show which took place earlier this year, back on March 17th.

The band seemed so much tighter, and they had worked all of the bugs from the March concert. Of course certain mishaps always find a way to sneak in, & indeed, last night's KISS performance was great, the only minor problems that come to my mind are during Ace's guitar solo in '2000 Man'..a person operating the spotlight did not shine it on Ace's guitar (Ace quickly commented & then finished his solo)

Later on in the show during an encore of 'Beth'.. the tape of pre-recorded background music came to an abrupt halt (after the first few bars) then started up again, allowing Peter to sing his famous trademark song.

The crowd was enthusiastic but smaller than the previous KISS/Mandalay Bay performance, maybe because of the predictable setlist that had only barely changed from the 3/17/00 gig ;

  * DETROIT ROCK CITY
* SHOUT IT OUT LOUD
* DEUCE
* I LOVE IT LOUD
* SHOCK ME
* FIREHOUSE
* DO YOU LOVE ME?
* CALLING DR.LOVE
* HEAVENS ON FIRE
* LET ME GO ROCK AND ROLL
* 2000 MAN (Ace's solo)
* PSYCHO CIRCUS
* LICK IT UP
* GOD OF THUNDER (Gene's solo)
* COLD GIN
* 100,000 YEARS
* LOVE GUN (Paul flies)
* I STILL LOVE YOU
* BLACK DIAMOND
---encores---
- BETH
- ROCK & ROLL ALL NITE

So, overall, it was a fun time, however Lady Luck was not smiling upon me during this particular night as I did not meet any of the KISS members, Ace & Peter had flown out of town immediately after the concert, Gene & Paul were no where to be found during the 6 hours I had spent searching for them ! (normally I do get lucky enough to bump into a few of the guys after a Las Vegas KISS show.. but not this time)

The band members have a week vacation, between the Vegas show & their next which takes place in Irvine, Ca. on 8/11.. If You get the opportunity to see KISS, please don't pass it up !!

KISS (1973-2000) Legends NEVER Die !
