KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jeff Tewes
I was 13 years old when kiss released their debut album. 27 years later i now took my youngest daughter whom is also 13 to see my rock and roll heros in what better place than las vegas while on vacation. the concert blasted off with detroit rock city. if any questions were out there if these guys could still blow up a stage my answer was yes after just this first song. the guys looked great and sounded awesume. paul made comment to the heat as it was 110-115 degrees all week in vegas and took off his shirt, he appeared to be in excellent shape for a man doing this for 27 years. much of the concert focus was on the early albums (much of the first alive album was played) which was also great. i wish we could have heard some more of their later songs such as pauls "forever" or genes "unholy" but i realize with 27 years music only so much fits into a 2-2.5 hour show. at one point paul flew over the crowd and landed on a platform in the center of the crowd to play love gun, this was a great sight and got people in this area really pumped. on many occations paul made references to the fans and what these 27 years have meant to himself and this band. it appeared to myself that paul felt much emotion and honesty as he several times told us that we made kiss, the fans and they have never forgotton this. the song list wre all kiss classics duece, black diamond, firehose, cold gin, god of thunder, love gun, lick it up, heavens on fire, phycho circus just to name a few. kiss sounded so fresh so strong this was easily the best concert i have ever been to in my life. although the reason for kiss suddenly calling it quits after this tour i feel go beyond what the average fan sees or understands, i have to think back to a quote from paul which says "i would rather quit now and have people ask why are they quitting than stay around too long and have people say why dont they quit". one only had to hear the crowd cheer for kiss to come back to the stage to realize these guys really have a connection whith their fan base. the show ending on the highest of notes with what else, rock and roll all night. the volume was pumped, fire flames were burning, ace had streamers flying off his guitar and paul smashed his guitar at the end and threw it into the crowd. after the lights finally came back on i stopped and paused before i left as i have just seen 27 years of the finest rock and roll played before my eyes. there will never be another elvis or beatles and yes i believe kiss can be included in this class of music acts now also.
