KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Scrabtree
First, let me say that since I am thirty and have an older brother who is a KISS fan, I have been a KISS fan all of my life. I have enjoyed them through all the years and am very sad to see them go.

Second, my brother and I introduced two of my nephews to the KISS concert experience in Louisville. They will never forget the ultimate show on earth -- as I will never forget any KISS concert I have been to. KISS is by far the ultimate live rock show.

FREEDOM HALL

We arrived at Louisville one half hour early. We fully intended to watch all of the Skid Row open. However, parking at Freedom Hall was terrible -- very little traffic control.

SKID ROW

We did get to see their last two songs -- "I Remember You, and Youth Patrol". The lead singer could not hit all of Bach's high notes, but since I never saw the original Skid Row live, I am not sure Bach could have hit all his high notes live either. They sounded pretty good to me, and the fans seemed to be enjoying them.

TED NUGENT

Ted rocks. Great guitarist. To me, Ted is better as a fronting band, than as a headliner. I saw Ted a few years back as a headliner and his show seemed to go on way too long. Thirty minutes of Ted with his best songs is about right. He was great, and at his best. I also enjoyed his political comments. People should lighten up on the guy. At least he is brave enough to speak his mind.

KISS: THE BEST

Now to KISS. Totally awsome. They used most of the stage gimmics that have made their shows the best -- fireworks, stage elevators, lots of lights, singing in the rafters etc. Slowly lowering from the ceiling at the beginning was very cool. The "history clip" during, "Do You Love Me" was clever and emotional. Paul's solo was very emotional and culmanated with the first verse of, "I Still Love You". Paul, during the whole show, seemed genuinly appreciative of the fans.

It was Ace's birthday, so singing, "Happy Birthday" to Ace was great.

Finally, I think that Peter and Ace put some extra "heavy" into "Lick It Up", and "Heaven's On Fire" -- I thoroughly enjoyed how their "attitudes" surfaced in the '80s hits.

KISS Rules. I will never go to see a band live as many times as I have seen KISS. I will miss you.
