KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Andy Nichols
Let me first say the KISS ARMY is alive and well as the band themselves. The last review I wrote was from the Nashville show I saw 4/28/2000. Today is the 4th of July, & let me tell you, the last 2 shows I saw of KISS this weekend Top any 4th of July fireworks show! If you look back at my review from 4/28/2000, you know the story of me being a diehard KISS fan. I carry the picture of me meeting Paul Stanley with me to all the shows, it's a real attention getter to people who I see in the crowd. I pulled it out at the show in Manassas Sat. night, and let me tell you, KISS fans are of every color, age and from every part of the World. So Ted Nugent can KISS MY ASS! Sorry Ted, I like some of your music, but KISS is the only band that respects everyone in the world. That is why KISS has endured 27 years. If it was not for them, you would maybe have 3 or 4 thousand come and see you. I just got back from a 1,100 mile round trip. Drove it all the way. I live in East TN and after work Fri. I hit the road with my wife to see KISS for 2 nights in a row. When I arrived in Manassas Fri. night, my wife's cuss had unexpectedly had her appendix removed that day. I wish I knew how to get a hold of Gene Simmons. She got out Sat. morning, the day of the show and wanted to go. She wanted to go so bad, we called the Nissan Pavilion to see if we could get her a wheel chair, and they said they did not have any. I know if I could have gotten ahold of Gene, he would have given her the V.I.P. treatment she deserved to see her favorite band. Well on with the show. We got there around 6:30 and for some reason Skid Row started playing around that time, we were in line to get in and the show was not supposed to start until 7:00. It did not matter to me because I was there to see KISS along with everyone else. Gene said one time "It you cannot get on the stage on time, then don't even get on stage" While Ted was playing I went to make a beer run & go to the restroom before the show. I do not leave while KISS is playing, so I got that behind me before the show. This was one of the biggest outdoor venues I have ever been to. The whole crowd was chanting along when the announcement of "Alright Washington D.C.! You Wanted The Best You Got The Best The HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD KISS! BANG!!! Here they came down from the lighting system playing DRC. I do not care where you go to see them the electricity is in the air when that curtain drops! The song off of Psycho Circus "We are One" is what the night is about. KISS and the thousands of fans together. KISS as the hero's, delivering the goods, and we the fans returning the fuel to build the Fire! KISS loves us, as much as we love them. Money does not matter to them, they are doing this for us! It had been 2 months since I saw them last, and let me tell you, they are like a snow ball rolling down a mountain, getting bigger & bigger as this tour goes on. They totally kept everyone on their feet! It was a hot night, and KISS poured every ounce of energy and dripping sweat out on stage as well as the crowd. Last night Ace was so hot, I mean right on the money. I Love it Loud early in the show kicked ass. The whole band was on last night! KISS has been right all along, they are going out with a BANG! I could write all night about the show. Near the end when Paul started the intro to I Sill Love You his guitar was out of tune. He covered it well, He said " you know on a magical night like this someone has given me a guitar that is out of tune" A roady handed him another real quick, after all it was not Paul's fault. Let's also give a hand to the stage crew that is packing up this show every night into 12 tractor trailers & getting it on time to the next city for the next show. Let me tell ALL of you who have never been to a KISS show-GO! GO even if you do not like KISS, you will be made a believer once you see the spectacle. I took along 2 people with me that had never seen them and NOW they understand! They could not believe the show & energy coming from the band at their age. As the old saying goes "you are never to old to rock n roll" If anyone has the concert review from the newspaper, please send it to me. I am going to make a KISS Book of all the shows I have been to with ticket stubs and all to Remember them. KISS I will never forget you! Thanks so much to you and the man above who makes life worth living, and makes all things possible in Life!, he gave us KISS. God gave Rock n Roll to You.
