KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Larry Umphrey
The show started off good with Skid Row hitting the stage around 7:05 or so. They were ok, nothing spectacular, but not horrible. The new lead singer looks a lot like Sebastian Bach, but is not as good of a singer, especially on the high notes. Ted Nugent was very entertaining. He wore a head dress and a confederate flag shirt, was loud and crude, just as expected.

Kiss hit the stage a little late, maybe 9:20 or so, I had heard it was after the Who's "won't get fooled again" but it was a couple songs later. They opened with Detroit Rock City, which was loud and awsome. Ace was off on his first solo, but for most of the night he was on. Peter was solid, nothing great, just solid. Paul was a great frontman, as usual, very energetic. Gene was good too, "God of Thunder" was great, and he was a presence all night.

Overall I thought it was a good show, not great. I felt they could have maybe played a couple of extra songs to make up for the postponed show, but they did not. It was a good show, but it lacked the energy and special feeling of the Alive/Worldwide tour in 1996/97. Better than the Physco Circus tour though.

Best crowd reactions were for: DRC, Beth, Rock and Roll all Nite, and Do You Love Me. Least reactions: Let me go, Rock and Roll, 100,000years, people were getting beer during these songs.

It was worth it, Paul mentioned "coming back again" but I guess I dont really know what he meant by it. Maybe another leg of the tour or something.
