KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Robert
I have been a huge KISS fan since 1978. That when I was about 12 years old. My first experience at the KISS show was Dynasty Tour in Omaha, Nebraska. I had seen their unmakeup tour three times. Then I decided not to bother go to their concert in the late 80's and early 90's. But I still kept up with them until they announced they had reunited with Ace and Peter. Man, I went crazy. I had seen their Reunion Tour five times. First was in Kansas City, then Denver, twice in Omaha and Ames, Iowa. I had seen their PC Tour once in Omaha. Now, I had a chance to see their Farewell Tour in Moline, Illinois. Overall, I had seen them 11th times.

We are from Columbus, Nebraska. We left home early in the morning and drove about 6 hours to get there. Upon our arrival in Moline, we had no problem finding The Mark, that's where they was playing at. We wandered around for awhile and we found a tent that sells the KISS merchandise. Hey, something funny happened to me. Because some guys noticed I had "KISS Security" on the back of my T-shirt that I placed an order thru the KISSONLINE not very long ago. They thought I was working for KISS. They wanted to know if I am selling the KISS merchandise and I went "Huh?!". I think that was funny.

As for the show...Oh man, they rocked The Mark!!!! The show was packed. According to the local paper, about 11,000 showed up for this show. We were sitting darn dead straight ahead from the lower section seats. Not even I had to turn my head a little. There were some songs I think they played really classic such as Deuce, Firehouse, 100,000 Years, God of Thunder and few others. As for 100,000 Years, Peter did the drum solo. Apparently, he can go longer than what the reviews I read recently. I guess he starts to feel confident in himself that he can play the solo longer without hurting himself. But it was great to see him played some great solo. Gene??? Well, that's him. The Demon himself!! My favorite parts from his act were puking the fake blood and flying during the God of Thunder. Man, this always gave me the goosebumps as if he acts like a god up there. He went down without hitch this time. Paul? What can I say about him? He's still a great singer. Ace is still a Spaceman!! Finally, I had a chance to listen to the 2,000 Man live. His guitar solo was great! I didn't see any lousy attitude from him as I had read the others' reviews. Ace seemed in great mood that night.

They played for about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Which it ended at 11:25 p.m. That was pretty late for me as we had to drive back home but we ended up stayed overnight at my mom's place in Des Moines, Iowa. We got back home in the afternoon the next day. Man, I was so beat from driving that distance. But it worths.

I give this show a huge A+. I won't forget that night!!
