KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Stephen LaRue
Well.... what can I say???!!! We had to drive 2 hours to get there from upstate New York to Montreal and then we got lost in the city. Anyway we missed Skid Row, not like it matter because they aren't worth seeing w/out the original line-up. When we finally got there we were able to see the last half of Nuge's set which was smokin'. We all know what a great showman Ted is but all I have to say is Tommy Aldrigde is an amazing drummer!!

Now on to what we all came to see! THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!!!! Ted played a little long so KISS went on at about 9:15 or so. The decent from the rafters is incredible. I really admire them opening w/ Detroit Rock City like they did on the Unmasked Tour way back in 1980, the performance was flawless!! Next they rolled right into the classic Deuce which again was great. I don't recall any glaring mistakes tonight whatsoever from anyone. The rest of the setlist was the same as it has been throughout the tour which kind of sucks in a way considering it's the Farewell. Individually I thought Ace gave the best performance but I'm kinda biased condsidering he's always been my favorite since I was a kid. He didn't miss a note and all his solos were on especially in some of my favorites like Let Me Go and 100,00 Years. Gene was particularly menacing tonite and spewed a lot of blood before God of Thunder. Paul was great as always and his voice just gets better everytime I see him. I really liked that he sang about a quarter of I Still Love You before Black Diamond, what a nice touch! And Peter, I just don't know about him. I mean he seems to be really into it and having a lot of fun but it seems to me like he's just up there hitting the skins and not really pounding away like he used to. I know he's getting up there and his condition and all but come on. I think 2000 Man might have been the best since the '79 Dynasty tour. In the end this show was the best I've seen since the reunion in '96 and I wish it didn't have to end after they just got everything right again. Anyway, THANKS ACE, GENE, PETER, AND PAUL. You've made my life exciting and I'll never forget this night! See you in Syracuse in September Baby!!! I Wanted The Best, I Got The Best, The Hottest Band In The World, KISS!!!!!
