KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: John Davey
My friend Ed and I drove down from Jackson Michigan for the show, about a 10 hour drive and it was worth every second of it.

We spent the day checking out the town, at the hockey arena downtown, the is a autographed Ace Frehley Les Paul in a glass case(Nashville is the home of Gibson guitars), we went and had a drink at the Gibson Cafe, very cool, went to Hrd Rock, and Planet Hollywood, and the went back to the hotel to take a nap before the show, we had been driving all night long.

Arrived at the venue at 4:30 they had a little stage with a local band playing out side, it was an outdoor arena, the gates were still closed but all the concessions were open, bought a Kiss rocks Nashville T Shirt, we could hear the guitar techs doing sound checks, the bass guy played Parasite, talked to lots of Kiss fans, everybody was really happy to be there it was a great vibe.

Skid Row was boring, their singer looks and sounds just like Sebastion Bach, but they were just time Killers.

Ted Nuget was better than I expected, he is from my hometown and I've met him several times so I was that excited to see him, his Bow Hunting store is right next door to my step fathers business so Ive seenhim alot, but his band was tight, ands he was very funny, he ripped on Al Gore, Bill Clinton Jesse Jackson, and ranted "Tipper Gore is a whore!"

THen the Main Event..... THey all were very energetic, even Ace was dancing around, the fire Marshals didnt let them use al their pyro so that was disappointing, and they werent loud enough, but they played very well.

Paul... He was awesome, looks like he has lost 20 pounds, and looks like he did not have a wig on, and his voice was in top form, talked in between every song, told a story about the first time they played nashville, and his flying dtunt worked perfect.

Ace... he played really well, although when he went to play 2000 man he started to play shock me, Paul walked over and said, uh we allready played that one Ace, He laughed and said Oops!, he was all smiles all night, more than I've seen him happy in years, he also looked very thin. I was dissappointed they didnt play intothe void, but oh well.

Gene... well his out fit keeps getting bigger and bigger, and his face looked huge, although he sang well, I saw very few leg kicks. his flying stunt went well, and the video whe he spat blod made him look very satanic, very cool.

Peter... he played well, although he only sang black diamond and beth, he really sang beth well, best version Ive ever heard, he passed out a dozen blue roses, they need to let him sing at least one more song, his voice is really good, he actually play a solo, about 5 minutes, sounded alot like his solo on alive 1.

Kiss seemed to be having fun, after the show my first thought was, how can they give all this up, the stadium was packed, the fans dont care if they are a little older and slower, or that Ace is a little goofy, they love Kiss, Kiss are fools if they dont at least have one encore tour after this one, Ill pay to see them two or three times at least. we are going to the first Detroit show on May 24 so Ill talk to you all then.
