KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Simon
Okay here we go...it's gonna be a long ( and INCREDIBLE ride) Skid Row-hmm...it aint the Skids that we used to know. I'll tell ya that much. Johnny or Johnnie whatever his name is SUCKS. He is a bad Sebastian Bach imitator. I am very much looking forward to seeing the man himself (Bach) on tues. at the House of Blues New Orleans. This guy, actually had the nerve to stop the show and yell at a fan, "Hey, put your camera away. Put your fucking camera away. We are SKID FUCKING ROW and we will take it from you." Ridiculous. Get a life buddy. You should be honored to have people watching you. I am a big fan of the 80's and 90's lineup with Bach, but not of the new incarnation. "I Remember You" was a complete joke. It's one of my favorite songs usually! Youth Gone Wild was pretty decent. That actually pumped me up. But I got pretty pissed when he singled that fan out for recording him.

Enough of that...on to Terrible Ted!

THIS GUY ROCKS. He is offensive, yes. He is a racist, yes. He is a homophobic, yes. Do I agree with his vulgar rude points of view? NO. Does he rock hard? YES. Nugent was great. A great entertainer. Really knows how to work a crowd. Really knows how to rile up an audience. Tommy Alderige is incredible. Bassist was ok. Lose the headseat mics. I've always hated those things. Ted played Free For All, WAng tang that sweet poontang, stranglehold, cat scratch fever, great white buffalo, kiss my ass, and a couple others I don't remember. He shot the arrow into the guitar. very cool. played for about an hour.

20 min after the Nuge gets off stage, "Won't Get Fooled Again" blares through the PA telling us that it is go time. Then the curtain starts to fall...but it got stuck. So things get delayed for about 10 minutes...and let me tell ya folks...these were 10 of the longest minutes I have ever experienced in my life. Finally, the lights go down.....

ALLRIGHT NEW ORLEANS....YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST, THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD...KISS!

They come down on the lift playing DRC. Very cool intro. Liked this more than the VH-1 entrance. They blazed through the standard set list.

Some quick highlights.

THE PYRO IS UNREAL. MUCH BETTER AND MORE PLENTIFUL THAN THE REUNION TOUR. THE STAGE IS AMAZING. IT IS REALLY A BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART. THE STAIRS ARE GREAT, LOGOS, SCREEN, ETC.

LOTS OF CONFETTI. MORE THAN SABBATH OR THE STONES. VERY IMPRESSIVE. THE HIGHLIGHTS ON THE VIDEO SCREENS DURING DO YOU LOVE ME WERE GREAT!

Individual Members:

Gene- Flying went perfectly. Blood spitting was great. Could have been more blood though. The Fire breathing was great as well. Not looking too evil tonight, and a bit overweight, but who cares? It's KISS FOR GOD SAKES!

Paul- Greatest showman on the planet. His raps between songs were pretty fresh to me because it was only my second show. LOVED WHEN HE FLEW OUT TO THE ISLAND STAGE. I was on the first level up and it was great that he was so close to me at that point. Very exciting. He's moving and running around like no one I've ever seen!

Peter- Pete was allright. Not great. It's sad to watch old videos of concerts and see how much energy he used to have. He is barely hitting these things (It looks like) but i'm not complaining. He kept his rhythms the whole show. Looked like he was having a great time. The riser was great! Dug the mini-mini-mini-mini-solo too!

Ace- Ace was great. Guitar was very loud. I am deaf now because of the Space Ace. Just joking! Solo was fantastic. Never saw the bombs shoot out of the guitar before so that was very cool. Smoking guitar went perfectly. Solo sounded great. He looked great, very thin and healthy looking. Vocals were impressive too.

P.S. Paul sang a verse of I Still Love You solo before going into the intro to Black Diamond. That was cool.

All in all, I am VERY impressed. I hope I get another opportunity to see them play together, but if I don't this is a wonderful experience that I will remember as my last KISS concert, but who knows? I feel like I got my moneys worth...and MORE! It was fantastic. It was everything I thought it would be, and MORE! Sorry my review was so long. It was a great night. I must sleep now.

THANK YOU KISS. WE LOVE YOU TOO!
