KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Todd D.
OK, here's the REST of my review. The opening bands were great. Skid Row rocked! I had heard they cancelled some previous shows, and come to find out Dave "the snake" Sabo had broken his ankle. So he played the set seated in a chair. The band sounded great, doing favorites "I Remember You", "18 and Life", "Youth Gone Wild", etc. They received well by the sparse crowd. They're new vocalist was good, but couldn't carry the notes like Sebastian could.

As for Ted, he was great. It was awesome to see Tommy Aldridge on the drums, as I feel he is one of the best rock drummers around. Ted also managed to rip all the liberal politicians in the area during his song "Kiss my Ass", improvising such lyrics as "Barbara Boxeer is a whore", etc. Ted is still Ted!

But enough on the openers. Kiss was great. Peter didn't seem as sluggish as I've seen him before. He actually had some energy. Ace was great, Paul sounded good, and it was really cool hearing some of the eighties tunes done by the original band. peter and Ace seemed to enjoy doing those songs, too. The effects and "bits" were the same, but done well, and the pyro was awesome. Ace did "2000 Man", which was a better number than "Into the Void", which I hear was done earlier in the Tour. It would have been nice to see Kiss do some old obscure songs, like "Plaster Caster", "Parasite", "Mr. Speed", etc. But, alas. Kiss did what was expected, and they were solid. I would say it IS time to retire. They are getting a little slow, and Peter hasn't really aged too well. Still, for this last concert, they were still, simply, the Best.
