KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: johnburrows_2000@yahoo.com
Last night's KISS show at the Oakland Arena was the most incredible, astounding, scary, eye popping, heart wrenching concert I've ever seen. What was my favorite part of the concert? What was your favorite part of the concert. Was it Ace Frehley's electrifying smoking guitar which at the neck of the guitar shot out huge bottle rocket explosions? Was it Gene Simmons bass solo before the song God of Thunder which was a frightening and awakening experience? Mr Simmons was spitting blood and then flew straight up to a tiny platform at the roof of the Oakland Arena. Once at the top he stood there menacingly staring down at his victims down below in the audience. Don't forget Mr Simmons and his fire breathing act which he normally or abnormally does at the end of the song Firehouse.

Watching the stunned and speechless expressions on the faces of various concert goers such as Mullet hair wearing KISS fanatics to the burnout macho dumb biker's watching the homo-erotic stage gestures of the "Star Child" Paul Stanley caressing his own rear end. Paul Stanley had a great time "touching" the crowd as he was seen flying across the audience to perform "Love Gun" in the middle of the crowd at the Oakland Arena. Several concert goers were overheard saying, "I think Paul will be coming out of the closet after this tour." "Was it me or did Paul Stanley sound a bit too much like Richard Simmons." I told them Paul Stanley is just portraying the bisexuality of his character the Star Child. Am I in denial?

If the performers on stage were not enough to get you high then the numerous explosions and fire works must have done something to your senses. There was constant fire bombs going off throughout the concert, and then the grand finale sent millions of tiny pieces of confetti into the air. How can you forget when Peter Criss's drum riser rose high above the stage and Ace's guitar was attached to a firework spinning wheel that kept spinning and throwing sparks throughout the final song, "Rock n Roll all night." There was so much heat coming off the stage last night it could keep the whole state of California warm during winter or summer if you live in San Francisco.

There has never been another band like KISS and there never will be another band like KISS. Although, there will be plenty of weak immitators that will continue to follow them and attempt exist in their shadow. Just about every act from every different type of music has "borrowed" from the legendary KISS. Musical acts as varied as Nsync (yes, the all boy pedophile's dream band borrowed the cable flying from KISS on their '98 Grammy performance), Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, GWAR, and many more mimic bands will attempt the same exposure in the not so far future. As to those critics that chose to belittle KISS from every facet of their KISSstory whether it be 1973 or 2000 you should try going to a KISS concert before you present a review of the Greatest Entertaining Live Band to have ever set foot on a proscenium stage.

In the end, KISS will go out on top and above all the rest as the best f***ing band in the land.
