KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Harry B
6:15 PM-Walking upon the long line of people waiting to get into the Oakland arena, the first thing that struck me was how many families were there together. I've never seen so many kids at a concert before in my life. Has KISS gone mainstream?

Skid Row hits the stage-Band is good. Mix is lousy. Sounds like too much bass from where I'm at. Still, overall, teh Band is good. Unfortunately, the David Lee Roth look-alike singer can't hold a candel to Mr Bach. His voice is far too raspy and he seemed out of breath at times. Overall, they were no big deal.

Ted Nugent sures as hell plays with tons of energy! Near as I can tell though, he's a two song guy. I mean, he played like a person on fire, but most the songs were one to forget. Kiss my ass made me chuckle. Only Ted Nugent. He got the crowd going, I can se why he's on the tour. I'd give him a look and listen again.

NOW HTEN-KISS HITS THE STAGE. I was really hoping that I stole your love would fond its way back into the set. It didn't. I was surprised stutter, a staple hasn't either. Not complaning, just surprised.

I was concerned about Ace at first. He clearly blew the first couple of notes of the Detroit Rock City solo, and he and Paul were not in sink for that song at all. Fortunatley, he got back to true Ace form quickly, and rocked the rest of the night. I thought Peter had improved 100% since the reunion tour, and his voice sounded the best I've heard. Gene, the demon that he is, was true to form. He performed all his signature moves to perfection. Paul, the ultimate showman didn't dissapoint either. His voice sounded just awesome. As much as I enjoyed it, and consider it a must see for anyone, I can see it's tiem for them to move on. They've done this "act" for years. How much longer would people be interested? I'm confident I will have the opportunity to see them again. Clearly, more dates are going to be added. On the reunion tour, they played San Jose and then Sacramento. This time, it's Oakland and Reno. They could easily come back and play the other two venues, if not San Francisco, and still maintain the farewell aspect for Oakland. I noticed they only played Las Cruces in New Mexico, certainly, there's got to be a show in Albequerque (sorry if I F'd up the spelling). If you haven't seen them yet and want to, and a date hasn't been announce near you. Hang on, they'll be sure to come by so you can contribute to the pension fund. Which, you'll happily do and won't regret!
