KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Daniel Akers
There have already been so many reviews on virtually the same show performed several nights a week. We all know the set list by heart so I won't talk about it much.

I have been a KISS fan since the very beginning and have seen the band 18 times over the last 23 years. The two shows I saw in Dallas (April 2) and Oklahoma City (April 4) were two of the best shows I have ever seen KISS put on. They really have things together on this tour. All of the guys are singing great and making the shows a real team effort. Ace's guitar playing never ceases to amaze me.

Don't always think closer is better. I was lucky enough to be on the tenth row center right in front of Gene at the Dallas show. It was fun being up front and so close to the fire and the fury that makes up a KISS show. But, at the OKC show I sat about halfway back in the extreme lower level just above the floor. These seats were just as good! The stage looks much better from a little farther back. You can take in the full specticle.

The Dallas show was flawless. Not a single glitch all night. The OKC show on the other hand had its share of problems. The first problem was the massive TV screen suspended over Peters head. It decided to stop working at the beginnig of Psycho-Circus. Luckily the techs had it fixed by the end of the song. The second problem occured at the end of the show, when Ace's lift refused to go up. Gene was, high above Ace, looking down waving at him. As Paul stalled smashing his guitar until he had the motion that the lift was not going anywhere. The guys handled all of the problems like the true professionals they are.

On a side note, I talked to Doc McGee after the OKC show and he informed me there would be an official release of some vintage KISS shows. No word on which ones or when they will be released , but they are coming.

Fact is, KISS is the greatest live act in the world. No matter were you sit, no matter what problems occur in the show, They are still KISS. And they will never be outdone by anybody!

Long Live the Legend of KISS!!!!!!
