KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Kevin D.
Made the trip to Oklahoma City from Tulsa, Oklahoma. In all the years that I have been a Kiss fan I never thought that I would be loading up my mini-van with my wife and 6-year old son to go to a Kiss concert. We listened to Kiss all the way to Oklahoma City in order to get ready for the show. We arrived in Oklahoma City about 6:15 p.m. Skid Row hit the stage about 6:55 P.M. There were not very many people in the Myriad for the set by Skid Row. However, those that were there did give the band a warm reception. I admire Snake Sabo for performing on a banged up ankle. The band sounded pretty good but the new lead singer screamed his way through just about every song.

Ted hit the stage around 7:45 p.m. I'm not a big Nugent fan but he and his band were tight and sounded very good. Ted's got a lot of great songs but I wish Ted would leave his political agenda to his radio show and website. He needs to let his music do the talking. He was entertaining and did get the crowd pumped up. His set flew by and before we knew it Kiss was ready to take the stage.

Ive seen Kiss nine times and have never been let down. My son kept asking me throughout the Skid Row and Nugent sets when was Kiss going to start. He wanted to see them so badly. I think the highlight of the night was seeing my son's face light up when Kiss descended from the lighting rig. The crowd was going crazy and Kiss descended like conquering heroes. The Myriad was jammed packed and going nuts for Kiss. I dont think Oklahoma City or Oklahoma for that matter has seen a great a show as Kiss put on since they were last in Oklahoma City on the Reunion Tour. There were some small miscues but they did not take away from the great show. The music was great. Kiss has never sounded better. Paul sounded great and worked the crowd into a frenzy like no one else can, Peter played great and sounded great on "Beth", Ace's guitar playing was right on, and Gene was Gene getting the crowd to respond any time he wanted. The talk from the band has been that this tour was for the fans. I honestly believe that this is true. I dont know how many times Paul expressed his appreciation for the fans. This show was a very positive show. Everyone in the band was smiling and having fun. Paul kept saying to the crowd, "Awesome, Awesome,, Awesome." The band played most of the standard numbers but threw in some nice surprises like "Love It Loud", "Let Me Go Rock and Roll" and "2,000 Man." Lots of pyrotechnics, lights, and confetti.

Im thankful Kiss decided to come to Oklahoma City on such a historic tour. I was impressed that Paul took the time to recall all the times and dates that Kiss had played in Oklahoma City. It made me feel appreciated. I truly felt like Kiss was giving us fans who have been with them all these years a great big thank-you. By the way, my son had a wonderful time. His favorite songs are "Shout It Out Loud" and "Rock and Roll All Nite" and of course Kiss performed both of these songs. This was a night he and I and my wife can share for the rest of our lives. Kiss, thanks for the memories.
