KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Barton Turner
WOW! That's the best word for it. I've seen KISS several times since they reunited, from all angles (close, far, in the middle, on the side, etc) but last night was awesome! My wife and I and another couple who made the drive from Kansas had front row seats right in front of Ace.

Eveyone knows the setlist and the stunts. The only minor problems they had were Ace seemed to have gotten lost during the solo in 100,000 Years; Ace only shot two rockets during his solo, then as he was exchanging guitars the third shot off over the crowd; at the end Ace's riser didn't rise. Gene and Peter were up in the rafters and Ace was just sitting there laughing his ass off! I know it sounds like Ace had an off night, but we were right in front of him and he nailed everything except that solo in 100,000 Years. The other things weren't his fault; hey, it's rock and roll, you expect perfection?

Overall the band sounded really tight, looked in good shape, and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. I felt all were in great form; and all seemed really into it. Ace was his normal spacey self, Gene was in character, and Paul was busy with the ladies. There was quite a bit of interplay among the members too. Paul was really flirting with a girl in the first row of pull-out bleachers. By about the third song she was flashing her obviously surgically enhanced assets. From there it went downhill (or got better depending on your perspective) and her friend started pulling up her shirt and assisting in other ways. Really funny to watch.

I've read some reviews being critical of the sappy "We won't forget you stuff." They did it in OKC too, but remember every night they play for a different group of 15K people. If you went to the show and they didn't thank you for your support you'd be saying they were ungrateful, etc.

Just take it for what it is ENTERTAINMENT! . . . and entertainment at it's best I might add. It doesn't matter where your seat it, you'll love this show.
