KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Kyle_KISSman
Warning, this review focuses mainly on my personal feelings and views. There was nothing better than cutting school and making the long 3 hour drive to Oklahoma City last night. As a 16 year old fan, this was not only was this my first KISS concert, but my first concert ever. My dad, who was also a first time KISSer, was probably as pumped as I was. After a good healthy supper at Braums, it was off to the Myriad. Had to grab a T-shirt, program, keychain...and then 75 dollars later we were ready for the most kick ass rock show ever.

First things first Skid Row. To me they wern't that bad, a little to much bass though, but all in all, not to bad. Good 'Ol Uncle Ted Nugent was next. I really got a kick out of him. Loved Stormtroopers, Cat Scratch Fever, and KISS My Ass. Personally, his America gung ho attitude didn't bother me at all. "Janet Renos a studip whore and she can KISS my ass" and you can't forget, "If you don't speek English get out of the fucking country" which drew a fairly nice crowd reaction. And the flaming arrow through the guitar or "sacraficing the buffalo" was cool. But again, a bit to much bass.

Now the Main Event KISS. As soon as they dropped the curtain for the first time, I could really start to feel the electricity. When the lights went out and the bass cord was going, everybody was on their feet and feeling it. When it dropped it was a feeling words can't descirbe I felt and seeing the rock gods up their, standing like they just conquered the world. Then from the moment they started into Detroit Rock City, it was simpley amazing. The high points for me personally were The intro and everything, Do Ya Love Me? (Loved the mini video), 2000 Man, Love Gun, God Of Thunder, and Rock And Roll All Night. The eighties songs were great, and to me it looked like Pete and Ace were really digging them (I Love It Loud was the best). Paul was amazing, his vocals and just overall performance, and the rapping between songs didn't bother me any way. Ace was on and appeared to hit all his solos right on. His solo was sweet, he played parts of Parasite, New York Groove, Snowblind, and Hard Times. The normal rocket shooting, smoking, flying guitar thing was awesome. Peter was really enjoying himself, he was smiling and chewing gum the whole night through. His little solo during 100,000 Years was great, I just wished he would of done the pointing out to the crowd thing. Finally Gene, he was full fledged Demon. Stalking around on stage, doing the tongue thing to Ace, it was all there. Loved his solo, and the blood, and he even got away without technical problems. Overall band interaction was great, Paul and Ace exchanged high fives and couple times, and after Beth, Gene started to pick on Pete and Ace a little bit. The night was not completely free of those technical problems. The jumbo screen went out during the majority of Psycho Circus, and at the end of Rock And Roll All Night Ace's riser didn't go anywhere. Paul even went over and tried to pull it up! It didn't take away from the show at all. On the whole, it was a great night, the crowd was juiced, the band sounded amazing both vocally and insturmentation (they really did give 110%), and my dream came true. I will certainly go to another show if I get the chance, and if you havn't seen them yet, you have to! What else can I say, KISS will rule the world now and forever and I will never forget them. They changed my life forever and they are without a doubt the greatest band of all time!
