KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Warren Dossey
Skids - passed on the Skids, it was good "shirt shopping" music though. Nugent - I like Ted as a three piece..good old American R&R. Take that Janet Reno.

KISS - Whew! new entrance/opening, the band are all playing as they are lowered down from the light rig. Gene, Ace & Paul are on this small light grid that drops in front of Pete's riser...which is lowering right behind them. Much better than the previous opening and them awkwardly getting set to play...this is a faster start. Either Ace or Paul continued playing the rhythm part for "Detroit" well into the solo break. My money is on Ace as he had this totally "I f@#?!d up" look on his face. How many times has he played that song? A zillion? Ace continued to disappoint all night. With earplugs, you can hear every mistake...and there were many. Paul gave us a solo verse & chorus of "I Still Love You" in front of Black Diamond. Both flying rigs went off without a hitch. Gene stepped off and "flew" back kinda early, kinda in the dark while Ace stretched out on little solo at the end. I'm guessing this was to conceal any shortshots on Gene's return.

Ace stumbled on the stairs on Cold Gin, again...I don't know where he was, but it wasn't Orlando. To recap:

Ace - not his best show. He was either savoring his solo, or figuring it out...? Paul - Paul was on! A little slower than before, but he delivered. Peter - Peter was awesome. Nice little solo on 100,000 years...seemed like the triggers were turned off, as he was pounding. Best "Beth" I have ever heard too! Gene - he's always on it seems, no exception here. Very good blood tonight, great!

My only complaint is that Ace had that "where's my check?" look on his face all night - very uninspired. But, still the greatest show on the planet. Yes it's time to pull the plug...but enjoy it while it's here. They'll never be duplicated.
