KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Lou S
OK, Here's my review. Just for info, I am close to 40 and this is my first KISS concert.

Got there with my wife and another couple about an hour before. Hung around outside and just watched everyone going in. A lot of painted faces, limos, etc. The excitement was building.

Went in around 7 just when Skid Row started playing. I liked Skid Row when they came on the scene around 10 years ago and have their CD. In all honesty, they weren't as bad as I thought they'd be from the reviews I've read. They were a little too loud and the new singer definitely can't hit the high notes on "I Remember You", but other than that they were OK.

Ted came on next and he rocked the frigin house. He looks and plays just awesome for someone who is 51 years old. You guys should wish that you look that good when you're 51. He played all his most popular songs including Freeforall, Cat Scratch Fever, Wang Dang Sweet Putang, Dog Eat Dog, but the highlight was Stranglehold where he just wailed on that guitar of his. He said he was going to play his ass off and he did just that. I had no problem with the comments he made and his song "Kiss My Ass" was pretty amusing. He's an American and he's proud of it and so am I. Ted and Tommy Aldrige put on a great show so try and catch the whole thing if you can.

The KISS curtain was up around 9:00 and the anticipation was building. Everyone was pumped and the house was jam-packed. The lights went out and the curtain dropped at 9:10. The set list was as expected. Again, for 50 year old guys, they were absolutely awesome. Everything worked 100%, everything. DRC was great with them descending from the ceiling. Ace sang Shock Me. Gene did his fire breathing in Firehouse. We were on the floor about 16 rows back and could still feel the heat during Heaven's on Fire. Ace did his guitar solo during 2000 Man and was awesome. Gene did his blood and flew up during God of Thunder then flew back down at the end. Cold Gin was great. Peter did a drum solo during 100,000 years and it sounded great. Paul flew to the island in Love Gun and then back again to the stage. As expected, Peter sang Beth for the first encore then RNRAN for the final. Tons of confetti all over the place.

All I can say is this. If you've never seen them before, go if you can. If you have, go anyway because you may never get another chance. This was by far the best concert I have ever been to. On this night, everything worked perfectly so that helped but either way, it is an experience you don't want to miss.

On another note, I ran into several old college buddies at this concert I haven't seen in 15 years and that was really cool. It was great seeing old friends who love Rock and Roll as mch as I do.

The only bad part about this whole thing is that it's over. Ted was great and he'll be back but I'm really glad I got to see KISS before they hang it up. This is their final tour, and I believe it will be, and they are definitely going out on top. Thanks KISS.
