KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Frank Davis
I got to the TD Waterhouse (Orlando Arena) at 5:00 for tailgating. The KISS ARMY was coming together. The parking lot in less than an hour packed up well. The doors opened at 6:00 and fans flocked to get KISS merchandise. They have really nice concert shirts, tour books, and other great accesssories. The lines were packed in every booth that was set up. I immediately went to see where I was sitting. I sat in the lower bowl to the right of the stage.

At 7:00, Skid Row started on schedule. I did not know what to expect from these guys because of reading some of their reviews here on-line. But they actually performed well. They had a lot of energy as they played "I remember you", "18 and life",and "Youth Gone Wild". Without Sebastian though, the high notes were not achieved. I give credit to them for playing to the audience (that was actually paying attention) and getting us ready for what was to come.

Next of course was Ted Nugent. The whole band was electrifying. Ted and his blazing solos and rebellious lyrics really got the audience pumped up. His bassist and drummer (Aldridge) were just full of energy, pumping the audience up. He played "Cat Scratch Fever" which brought the house down and "Kiss my A--". Let me tell you, he was very opinionated and funny. There could be no better opening act for this tour.

Then came the moment. KISS! The stage was setup awesome. Lights, flames, smoke everywhere. Paul was pumped up. I don't know how he gets the energy. Gene looked like the demon he is, and had the tongue lashing. Ace moved around quite a bit and was having fun. Peter was spectacular on the drums.

All of the riggings worked well as Gene flew up to the raptors to do "God of Thunder" which I thought was the best song of the concert. Paul had no problems "flying" across to do his performance on the island at the back of the arena. Ace had no problems shooting out some ceiling Amps with his guitar! No flaws on any special effects.

Everyone had solos (Peter on 100,000 years) and the band was entertaining and having fun. If you are a very big KISS fan, you cannot miss this farewell concert. "Detroit Rock City, Shout it out Loud, Firehouse, 100,000 years, Black Diamond, Cold Gin, Heaven's on Fire, Love it Loud, Beth, Rock and Roll all Nite" are just a few of the many songs they sing. I felt the most impressive thing of the night was Paul talking about respect to all the fans near the end of the concert. He said that respect is having a band perform their hearts out for you everytime you see them in concert. They should try to respect us the fan. If they didn't, they don't deserve you. I felt everyone in the Arena had KISS's respect for an eternity when they left the concert seeing KISS for the final time. Farewell...
