KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Julian Stankov
OK.It's been a while since KISS rocked Osaka but I needed some time off to recover from the blast! The show started with the usual "All Right OSAKA...you wanted the best and you got the best..."then the whole place started shaking from the bass intro of "Detroit Rock City" as Gene,Paul and Ace came from the roof of the Jo-Hall! And then it started and everybody went crazy! The songs just kept coming one after one...classical tunes that everybody knew perfectly! The setlist was almost the same as the other Japan-tour shows probably with the small exception that Paul sang Forever(alone) and then suddenly turned it into I Still Love You...it was awesome combination.Paul was really the showman that night as he didn't stop for 2 and a half hours!Even between the songs ,when he was not singing or running around the scene he was talking to the audience in japanese. At one moment the band sang "Hitori no bochi no yoru" a japanese pop song which became popular in the States a couple of decades ago and not a traditional one as I read in some of the other reviews! The peak point was when Paul said"OK,now I'm going down, to see you..." and he really came to a small stage almost in the middle of the hall and the band started Love Gun.This stage was only 2 or 3 meters from the place I was and this was fantastic.

Gene was The DEMON as always and did his bloodspitting during God Of Thunder and Firebreathing at the end of Firehouse.Ace seemed to me quite static at the beginning of the show but when it came to his solo he did it perfect sending his smoking guitar in the outerspace at the end.The concert ended with I Was Made For Loving You, Paul sang it really weird but probably his voice was already tired, and of course Rock And Roll All Nite!

Well at the end I can say only this : I wanted the best and I got it...
