KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Sabbath
This was basically the show a lot of you have been writing about.

Skid Row: First 3-4 songs were victims of the soundboard mixer mixing everything right. By Monkey Business, and the three songs after, SK were sounding pretty good. Even got good crowd response.

Ted Nugent: was Ted. Tight band, but awfully distorted for a three piece. Most of his commentary I could have done without but I did like his, "The world may suck but America sucks less" line and, when getting ready to play Cat Scratch Fever, going on about how the crowd was too white and not sexy enough for such a Motown Song as CSF.

KISS:

Gene: was actually into it and on top of his vocals on his songs, but like others have written, other than "Black Diamond", he didn't seem to be putting much into backup vox, especially Heaven's On Fire. Flying went off without a hitch.

Paul: had had a day off, but sound a little strained vocally. I though the "preaching" approach was kind of cool. Paul was Paul.

Peter: Some good drumming. Saved a lot of it up for the solo which was killer. He's got it in him, but I think he's pacing himself because of the recent history with his arms. Beth was right on the money and he thanked the crowd for supporting KISS all these years. Even did the "Peoria who loves you (and points to both KISS logos over his shoulders) during "Let Me Go"

Ace: What can I say? Compared to the two dates I saw on the Reunion tour, he blew me away. Ace was definitely on his game, maybe missed a note here or there, but didn't screw up any solos. I would have like to have heard that Ace song medley though. Looks like its gone.

The Crowd: After "Calling Dr. Love", the crowd lost momentum and only showed signs of life during any major event of the concert (Gene spitting blood, Paul flying, solos, etc.) until R&RAN, and man I couldn't believe the confetti!!! I lost count at 8 pairs of breasts in the crowd, 1 count of lesbian activity and if I wore a hat, it would be off to the cute lady who spent over 1/2 of KISS' stage time complete topless while riding around on some guys shoulders.

Like a lot of others, I also realized this was it on "Do You Love Me?" Damn that video they showed! It was, "Tito, get me a tissue" time!

I became a fan in 1977 and want to say thanks for 23 years of entertainment.
