KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Nick J
I don't have much more to add to what Dean Weir has said in his review, he pretty much covered it.

I don't think the set list could have been more perfect. Playing almost every one of their big hits, (and my three all time favorite Kiss songs, Cold Gin, Parasite and She) they have to be the most incredible live act ever, taking all of their songs to a level that is spectacular accoustically and visually.

Unfortunately the High ticket prices, and the fact it was a thursday night kept the size of the crowd down. (I would put the figure at around 10,000 to 11,000 but the 18,000 capacity Burswood Dome had been reconfigured to suit it well). I disagree that the crowd was unusually quiet, from my second row position we could all be heard singing and screaming along with the music. The Burswood Dome has never done a whole lot for accoustics(just ask Mick Jagger!!!!)

All four of the Guys were well and truly on the ball and in top voice. They all looked as though they were having the time of their lives.

Paul was his usual self, made for the stage and proud of it, pouting, puckering and playing with the crowd. At one stage saying we deserve a reward and using an air gun to fire t-shirts(or something like that) into the back rows and up into the stands. (They just think of everyone don't they!!!)v Erics drumming was his usual display of sheer professionalism and flawless perfection, throwing pleanty of sticks to the crowd. His solo was just amazing.

Ace had a smile on his face the whole time and seemed to enjoy every moment, even his trouble hooking his guitar during the solo was brushed off with laughter, and a huge roar from the crowd!(We love you Ace!!!!!)

Gene had us like putty in his hands, putting on the usual demon persona better than anyone else could. His stage presence and brilliant bass playing keep the band as a unit on stage and did so on this occasion.

Gene sang I love it loud on the right hand side of the stage and kept tapping the mike to see if it was working and indicating for the stage hands to raise the level of the mike. Frustrated at the end of the song he punched or pushed the mike over. I don't think it was fixed because Paul also seemed to have trouble with it later on. Gene also didn't seen happy with the level of his bass during the blood spitting scene. I didn't notice that much of a difference and the people around me didn't either.

The Burswood Dome's Security staff were overly heavy handed as usual, throwing people out and trying to make us sit down,(yeah right), but I think sooner or later they will find one day they are a little outnumbered and get what is coming to them.

All in all it was the greatest two and a half hours of my life, i have seen some of the greatest touring shows ever, (Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge, AC/DC etc) and this one beat them all to death a hundred times over. Kiss are the only band that can put on a show and match it with stage presence and an all over feeling that we are all part of Kiss and all hanging out together.

I just want to finish by thanking Kiss for all of the years, I am only 20 but you have made life worth living fellas, helping me (and i am sure many others) through some tough times, I don't know where i would be without you guys. You made me proud of who i am and i think that is the greatest gift to anyone.

I know this is not the end,Kiss will go on. It is not a band ,it is a way of life and i will never ever stop listening to your music and never stop being a kiss fan.

Thanks Gene, Paul, Ace, Peter, Eric S., Eric C.(rip), and Bruce K, you are all legends, you all rule.
